How advanced is technology? I know you listed several series that I am unfamiliar with, but just a galactic average on computer science, data storage, food processing, flight technology, etc, would be neat. I understand GURPS Tech Levels, if that helps. You did say that aliens were okay, but also said you wanted a mostly human team. Xenobiology would kind of be necessary either way, I suppose, but how many species are well known enough for a human to learn medical practises for them? More on tech: How are you getting around the travel times between stars? FTL, cold storage, something else fun and exciting? If I do end up making an alien, precisely how truly alien can I get? Size would be a problem on a human built ship, as would certain biological issues, so that question becomes somewhat important. And lastly, how do you feel about AIs?
Good questions, and I'll try to answer them as much as I can; 1. Technology, at the highest level, is beyond much of what we have today - I'd say Star Trek/Wars level of technology for a reference point. It does vary from place-to-place and civilisation to another one, meaning that some planets are still stuck in the Stone Age while others could annihilate them with supersonic bombs or such. 2. As many as you want, this is as much my narrative as your own, so if you wish for there to be a few that are well known then that's fine. Humanity has spread far-and-wide, so as long as they're not exceedingly high numbers it'd make sense. 3. FTL is the usual mode of transport, using said 'gates' as way-points and strategic choke points, like 'warp travel' but more restricted and less random. 4. Again, as alien or non-alien as you like, we've not even started the actual narrative yet, so we'd be able to wrangle some specifics for the character before going forward I'd think. 5. AI is fine, if rarer than usual - mostly depends on what you mean, as in sentient robots or nano-tech. I realise I'm not helping much, and I apologise, but the specifics of many things are going to be decided within the IC itself; if you've got more questions, or want me to extrapolate on some points then I can. [@POOHEAD189] Sounds good! [@IrishAngelQueen] I look forward to it. :) [@Tsar Gatto] Sheet looks excellent, and I hope you're still about.
