It is also know as a center of culture for the region, the royal palace regularly hosting balls and the royal family are generous fosters of the arts. The city itself rest upon two hills, the royal palace of the kingdom upon one and the monastery upon the other. Around them sprawl the housing of the civilian populace, the richest and most devout resting high atop their respective mountain. Eva was born to a family on the monastery’s hill and at a young age she was inducted into the order as a nun. There She learned more of the gods, every rite and ritual of those still worshiped by the peoples of the land as well as studying the texts on the histories and philosophies that the library recorded. Once she was of age she began martial training to become a defender of the faithful and of the Order's bastion upon the hill. All in the Order where trained partially in the ways of war, as was tradition, yet as keepers of the faith they where not to draw blood and so where trained with mace and blunted sword. Eva showed prowess in these arts and was one of the few who were awarded the rank of guardian, masters of the ancient craft of Crukosta and primary warriors of the order. It was in reality a ceremonial position, it had been centuries since the Order had to take up arms against an actual enemy. Then the Vukash began their conquests. The city became a hub of research, scholars came from the surrounding lands to make use of the Order’s library and the kingdom's wealth to seek ways of calling forth the gods. In the beginning the Order was on-board with this initiative but the study of the worshiped gods soon fell out of favor and the older gods that might have been best left forgotten became of interest to many who came to the kingdom. For the most part Eva spent this time either assisting in accommodating requests for books or training for the Vukash’s inevitable assault on their lands. As kingdom after kingdom fell the rich and powerful of Krassite became more and more desperate and so began to employ individuals to engage in much darker methods in the attempt to call to the gods. Initially these were carefully hidden from the public but with each report of disaster from the front lines they grew bolder, more assured that this was the only path, till eventually they were discovered and their misdeeds brought to the attention of the king. To the horror of the Order, they were given the royal blessing to continue and soon the city descended into madness. Larger, more elaborate and depraved rituals were attempted, the blood of innocents ran freely in the streets as they performed their twister rites and unholy ceremonies, calling for gods of old to heed their cries. The Eva and the Order could not stand for this barbarity and so for the first time in centuries ventured out of their monastery with weapons in hand. Some went to the city below, rallying the populace and soon there was a full scale civil war going on, those who feared the Vukash fighting against those that feared what the nobility where doing. Eva herself was one of those who went directly towards the palace, battling through those loyal to the king or terrified of the Vulkash till they reached the top of the hill, storming through the corrupted citadel till they finally reached the throne room. Within was an appalling sight, the moans of the dying and the scent of blood filled the air, a great ritual of appalling construction was being performed within. At the center of the ritual was the king and his young son who was bound helplessly in the center of the ritual circle. “Royal blood must be spoiled so that the gods will answer” he decreed. It was unclear whether they would have responded, for when the kings broken body hit the floor, not a drop of blood left him. The palace was subsequently burned and the boy prince proclaimed the new king, but it was clear to all from which hill the city was now ruled. After all, it was the only one left standing. Eva became one of a number of the orders warriors who worked tirelessly to rout out any surviving cultists, an inquisition that mercilessly hunted those who had taken the lives of their kinsmen in search of salvation. When the order heard of the expedition organised in distant lands tat was to be sent to the dark library she was one of those who volunteered to go as the Orders representatives. She is to stand as a guardian of sanity within that ancient library, to prevent those so desperate for victory against the Vukash from sacrificing their humanity for power. Personality and Psychological profile: In a word, devout. She is steadfast, disciplined and ultimately loyal to the Order and her mission to prevent the barbarity that infected her home from ever occurring again. This desire is primarily based upon compassion, the needless suffering of others horrifies her and she acts with fury and holy vigour to correct those injustices. It should be noted that Eva’s rage fueled drive is somewhat unusual with the Order, her first hand witnessing of the extremes of blood sacrifice haunts her and she is determined to stop such unholy practices at all costs. Beyond her religious duties she is a rather passionate individual. Loud, outspoken and fond of hard liquor Prior Run-Ins: Spin off a story about an interaction between the character above and your own. Please be sure to make it an incident worth referring to during the RP. Feuds of some sort are particularly appreciated here. [/hider]
