I kinda like the character, so I wonder if there's another way to make the character work without jeopardizing everyone else in the game

An epic denier who straight up can't see or be affected by epics, maybe to him everything is treated as normal but it doesn't actually nullify powers? So he can't be harmed by epic powers and he can't see them, but they aren't nullified around him
