Plus I'm still super early in the game, so there's a butt-ton more to go and I have no idea how to decide what I want in my party.  This is the first time I've had this problem in any Pokemon game.  Oh, also, I'll probably want an Eevee...  Though I might have to say no for just one game on that.

Aerodactyl does have weaknesses to a few things cause of flying. Onix can evolve into Steelix [i]if[/i] traded, but honestly I'd go with Ferrothorn instead. Only weakness is fighting and fire but it has an ability that hurts others on contact and you can breed in stealth rock, a great move in difficult battles.

Moves:
- Stealth Rock
- Ingrain
- Curse
- Gyroball

Item:
- Leftovers

That should set you up nicely where you can follow up with another Pokemon if needed.
(Ingrain will hold it in unless it faints, but by then you should have 3 stealths up and Max curse)
