Sam found the button shortly after Boxcar had told him which side of the door it was on, there was nothing obvious marking it was different from the rest of the area so you'd have to either know it's there or be looking for it to push the button. Once Boxcar was out he calmed down immediately, and didn't sound very grateful for being saved, but his tail was wagging so Sam let the attitude slide and counted it as a win in his book. The idea of food made Sam realize how hungry he was, he hadn't eaten anything since he woke up at about 6 that morning. Before that though Ashley reminded him he had something he wanted to say, "oh right, it's just something about what you announced to everyone upstairs." He felt his face getting warm, which had a much different meaning than someone else saying it, he hoped he didn't flame up. Why was he getting nervous all of a sudden? "It's just...you sounded kind of scared of how people might react, but I don't see what the big deal with it is." As he spoke he gained more confidence, Sam wasn't the best at talking to new people, but once he got going he found it much easier. "I mean, we've all got something going on with us in this house, right?" Sam paused a moment and considered telling her about his heritage, then decided he would. Everyone would probably find out eventually, and Ashley seemed like a nice person so he'd tell her first. "I have some ability with fire, and I have that because," Sam looked around and lowered his voice without really realizing it, "I'm actually part phoenix." He let out a sigh he didn't realize he was holding in, it felt good to tell someone about himself. He also didn't feel warm anymore so he didn't fear accidentally bursting in to flames with Ashley right there with him.
