The captain seemed odd to Traveler. His outfit seemed out of place relative to what the other humans tend to wear in the area. He appeared too small to garner any respect from normal pirates. And to top it off, an unusual fascination with what appeared to be a straw. The first question, what was Traveler here for? Traveler was silent for a moment, using the vocals of this shell was something it did not do often. ”I do not seek material wealth. I do not seek infamy. Neither interests me. Instead all I need is sustenance from other lifeforms to nourish me and comradery.” When Arron used his ‘lie detector’ on Traveler, it felt an unusual sensation. Arron was interfering with its very being, nearly disrupting its disguise (never mind the feeling that Arron was probably seeing past it with whatever he was doing). In addition, it detected genetic material it never felt before. While it partially comprised of Human material, the rest was completely foreign to it. While the contact was too brief to extract much information, it was enough to indicate alteration of unknown extent. Second question, what is its name? It never had a name, nor were any Q’lyar given names, only designations. Is this something to tell Arron? Should it make something up? After a few more silent moments, It decided to partially reveal itself, Arron might have figured it out already anyhow. ”I have no name. As you may have formulated, I am not Human like I appear. This is just a shell that I use to disguise my nature. In truth, I am Q’lyar. The race with no form, for they do not need them. Instead, they adopt forms. Neither do they have names. You can refer to me… this cell, by its designation Traveler-59, or just Traveler" Arron did not seem to be surprised at the revelation, though admittedly, Traveler has little experience with inferring meaning from facial expressions. When it got to the part where it was with the other recruits, it took the opportunity to look at the others. Most of the races were unknown to it, but several (especially the other Humans) were familiar. Most were wholly organic (or at least, mostly) but some had exterior carapace, likely the front-liners. And now the point came where Traveler, or Snake as the captain calls it, would feel combat again. It hopes it would have the opportunity to consume a combatant for sustenance, one missing is unlikely to be noticed (especially after a fight).
