I just wrote the backstory for a D&D character that i'm making and I wouldn't mind to have some feedback from the talented folks around here.
Born the Bastard son of a Human noble, Dara was often seen as a Liability by his father, and as an undesirable by those around him. Because of this he Mostly kept to himself. From a Young age Dara showed an interest in pursuits of the arcane, and his teachers soon discovered that he had quite the talent for it. His Father, finally seeing a chance to get rid of what he perceived to be an eyesore, sent him to one of the magical academies in the land. And so Dara started devoting his teenage years to his studies. During his time at the academy he slowly gathered a small but loyal group of friends around him, gaining a little bit of confidence, finally feeling like he had a place he belonged. He even made a best friend, called Simon. Things however, were not to last. One night Simon, Dara and the rest of their small group, snuck out into one of the practice rooms of the academy. They had found an old tome in the forbidden section of the academies library. In This tome they found a ritual that when performed was to give them power beyond belief. The ritual however turned out to be far more than they had bargained for. What the youngsters thought was a quick way to gain power, turned out to be a way of contacting a demon from the nine hells. A Fiend that Trough magical means persuaded Simon to make a Pact with it. He possessed the young teenagers body, killing everyone in the room, except for Dara. After that Simon vanished, now firmly under the grasp of this Fiend. Blaming himself for what had happened, and unable to stay in the place where all of his friends had died. Dara decided to leave the academy and become a wandering adventurer. During this time Dara found that in helping others, the gnawing guilt that was ever present in the back of his mind, would weight a little less on him. And so He helped those he could, and started trying to make things right trough repentance. It is also then that he decided that he would find Simon, and either free him from the fiends grasp, or kill him, if he had no other choice.
