It's been made to look more realistic at key points, but it has never actually gone all the way. Anybody trained in actual law can easily point out how it goes off the rails even when they opt for a more realistic court depiction. When they want to have Luthor's influence actually mean something, it's more like weeks or a few months, when in reality the increased clout and red tape would make such things last for a minimum of 2-4 years. The closest we've ever gotten was probably in the Netflix Daredevil with Matt and Foggy handling the case of Frank Castle, and even that would have gone considerably differently had they not directed the story to have Castle freak out in the courtroom (and actually thinking back on it likely would have had the result of turning about into a credible insanity plea).
