Individuals involved in this reiteration of Blood Compact rp: Myself, [@Shikaru][@The Grey Dust] How in the fuck the world of Blood Compact works: "Long ago" humans and vampires both inhabited the planet. Humans are presumed to have evolved as per normal, yet the exact origins of vampirekind remain a mystery. Vampires plagued humanity all over the world for probably multiple thousands of years, maybe tens of thousands, we don't know. Many cultures considered them myth and legend only or were ignorant of the supernatural in general. Vampires did at some point grow too numerous and ended up being "discovered" or recognized by humanity as a real thing. Older, wiser vampires, began to realize that vampire-overpopulation would become a problem for them. Eventually, we're saying somewhere in eastern Europe in the dark ages or middle ages, humans figured out what vampires were and that they could be hunted and killed. The "Covenant" was formed as a secret society to protect humanity. Their goal was to basically kill all vampires and supernatural threats, and they were successful. The Covenant kept the population of younger weaker vampires suppressed, often clearing them out of a locale entirely and allowing the human population to grow. Elder vampires were ok with this, so long as they were powerful enough to live beyond the Covenant's reach, as it kept young upstarts from killing too many humans and competing for territory. Nobody wants a noob punk warlord rising up in their backyard. So, the Elder vampires kept themselves hidden and allowed the war between the high-generation vampires and the Covenant humans to rage on in the foreground. Generally, neither the Covenant nor common vampires know anything about the Elders. Most humans in the world don't know anything about vampires or the Covenant. Although some peopl might believe in vampires. The modern-day Covenant mostly consists of the human descendants of previous Covenant members. Being a vampire hunter basically runs in families. A few hundred years ago, an attempt was made to end the secret "Night Wars" between the common vampires and the Covenant/humans, and an agreement referred to as the Blood Compact was made. The low-level vampires (not the Elders) agreed not to commit at least mass-slaughter or attempt to overthrow humanity's dominance of the planet in return for not being hunted to a man/vampire. Neither side was to be allowed to wipe out or forever dominate the other and certain legal stipulations were penned, such as not blithely murdering vampires, not sireing fledglings, etc. You could probably make up the gist of the thing. The Blood Compact has been in effect ever since, with much more peace resulting. Vampires seem to be almost forgotten in the public eye as long as they keep their feeding under control. The Covenant sticks around to make sure the Blood Compact gets enforced. Truely Elder vampires don't really give a fuck about any of this. All they care about is maintaining their own secret empires and fending off each other. They are cowardly and value their immortal lives and frankly might just be too lazy to involve themselves in politics. Chances are, we will never see them. Just know they exist in this world, but your character probably has no clue. Suddenly Magnus comes along. Magnus, seemed to have popped up out of nowhere, powerful as hell and just as crazy. He is an older vampire who suddenly decided to flip the bird to the Blood Compact and round up an army of the weak and young common vampires to join him. Nobody expected this. The Covenant wants him dead. The Elders are probably peeved as much as they are entertained by his antics. The naive young vampires probably think he's a god and want to join his effort to take over the world. Have fun. Werewolves. Think of them as a tribal society that has been living in the shadow of humans since the dawn of time. They are not great human-fans, what with human pollution and overpopulation of the Earth, but that doesn't necessarily make them friends to vampires. They will probably join any side that suits them on an individual basis.
