I actually have a lot of experience with Shadowrun and a love of the setting. I created a character that is a Frisco native but also qualified for Sioux citizenship; and used it to get out when he got in trouble with the Japanese Imperial occupation authorities. Once in the NAN, he finished out schooling and went into mandatory military service there; stayed on for longer than the obligatory citizenship tour of a year and was involved in things related to the Crash on the NAN side. After discharge, also got caught up in the collapse of General Saito's protectorate smuggling in for the Tong and other anti-Japanese California groups in 2068-2069. After it was done, things were hot and he decided to lay low with smaller jobs in a different place, and maybe 'well away from the Japanese sphere of influence" which could explain Reykjavik. In the other RP that didn't launch, this was in Seattle, but I have no problem with him going further afield. I went physad and relatively low-impact in his methodologies; loud and messy isn't his style. One potential sideline might well be smuggling electronics into the NAN to the powers that be there, because that'd keep him in good odor with the Chiefs.
