Trust me you want to push through and finish C. Then once you do that you get the chapter select option, so you can jump straight to finale and get ending D. When you have both on the same save file, only then do you get the complete ending after dealing with the soul crushing difficulty of the true finale.

A2's attitude gets better. And trust me, you won't complain about 9S' hacking when you realize how easy he makes some of the bullet sponge enemies die. 

Having done the first game I saw the plot twists coming since it's a lot of the same story beats, but without the same depth of character as Kaine, Neir, Emil, and Weiss had.
