I think the idea is that [@Zeroth]'s character was written as belonging to an essentially Japanese culture within an otherwise European kingdom. Therefore his character asked if your character belonged to said culture due to wearing a kimono, which within this RP's world, is the dress of the ancient clans he mentioned.
