Hey now, mine's a bard.

Question: How advanced is the technology / science of the world? Is it still pretty medieval, or is it getting to a more Renaissance-type situation?

I ask because I'm considering a second character as an eccentric scientist / inventor who's currently set his sights on examining the 'Destined' phenomenon - I'd also like if we could talk about him being somehow affiliated to the royal family, as playing a young, eccentric and old-timey 'Royal Philosopher' quite appeals to me, but that's of course up for discussion.
