The EU and other World-wide organizations have collapsed, and alliances are breaking down as countries compete with one another for the world's dwindling resources. In this sea of anarchy, the only thing that separates order from anarchy, as nations wage free-for-all-battle for survival and supremacy, is the military might of the United States, who are determined to keep the peace- whether other countries want them to or not. But such unprecedented conflict worldwide requires as unprecedented of a military force. Enter the Remote Infantry Corps: robotic soldiers deployed in warzones around the world, controlled by human operators thousands of miles from the action. These Remote Infantry- dubbed Tin Men, are highly resilient machines, unfazed by fatigue and possessing of the intellect and decision making prowess only a trained soldier could provide. While the Tin Men are not indestructible, the soldiers piloting these machines have little to fear about possible injuries or sickness. Immune to injury and death, and seemingly untiring, this new breed of American warrior has a battlefield edge that's all but unstoppable. With their powerful new tools of war, the American military has forcefully begun policing the entire world, and bringing its anarchy to heel. Or so it would seem. When a routine patrol through the civil-war stricken streets of Syria goes awry and the men and women of the 1st Remote Infantry Division finds themselves cut off from headquarters, they must make a desperate push out of hostile territory towards home. However, such a daunting task is easier said than done, and far less simpler than originally believed. With the men and women of the 1st Remote Infantry Division finding themselves facing up against foreign nations, sick and tired of being under the heel of American occupation; anarchists, ranks swelling with rocket-wielding “Bot Killers”; and even each other, it’s the worst possible time for the Tin Men to face their most crucial mission. An economic summit under terrorist attack, the U.S. president running for his life, and more, the Tin Men must take the fight to the next level—if they want to be the last combatants standing, and not the first of their kind to fall forever.

Plot and Context
Hello and welcome to the interest check for 'Tin Men', a military RP based in the alternate near-future, when America has become something of a Freedom enforcing equivalent of the schoolyard bully, forcing its will upon the smaller, less influential nations. In this alternate universe, organizations such as NATO, EU, the UN, etc still exist, but are considerably less powerful or influential. America is not the only major power in the world, however, due to the energy crisis and general economic crash the world is in, most countries tend to keep to themselves and look out primarily for their own interests. Thus America has taken upon itself the role of international peacekeeper, and have deployed its forces to various locations across the world- much to the chagrin of other nations. Political intrigue aside, this RP will focus primarily on the struggles and tribulations of a single squad of the 1st Remote Infantry Division, as they struggle to survive in an increasingly hostile place. This RP will try to adhere to some sense of realism, and will aim to be a dark and gritty military RP- so if those aren't your cup of tea, this probably isn't the RP for you. I want this RP to focus on a relatively small group, so I'm going to try to put the character limit at 4-5 players total. As such, this RP is not first come, first served.

OOC Information

Essentially a unit of Next-Gen drone operators, the Remote Infantry Corps are a specialized unit of highly advanced robots operated by pilots in a remote facility referred to as 'The Hump'. Utilizing highly classified 'Mind-melding' technology- as the R&D technicians call it, RIC Operators are military personnel that climb into “metal coffins” to transfer their consciousness into these robots for eight-hour shifts at a time. A variety of men and women are eligible for a slot in the RIC program: from seasoned operators feeling their age, to crippled soldiers looking for another way back into the fight, to the grunt who scored particularly high on his ASVAB, soldiers from all walks of life are screened and trained for a life, and thanks to a large number of pilots, the relatively few RIC robots can be piloted 24/7 to enforce the peace in whatever location they're sent to. The RI-1, often called 'Tin Men' by most military personnel, is an advanced remotely controlled drone mimicking the form of a human body. Standing in at about 6'4" in height, these robotic drones clock in at nearly 400 lbs with a full combat load. A combination of advanced servomotors and hyrdaulics within a endoskeleton of titanium alloys (a la terminator), the RI-1's body is covered with flexible ballistic rubber/mesh compound and armored plated with titanium-alloy to approximate the equivalent of human skin. This body is then covered with fatigues and body armor to mimic the appearance of a modern soldier. The result is a unit highly resistant to most forms of small arms fire, and can even take a direct hit from an RPG and still function. Their signature T-visor helmet protects an advanced targeting suite and includes an external speaker unit for communicating with civilians and non-RIC personnel.

Rifle and DMR
A standard unit of the US military, the Remote Infantry Corps features a fairly standard equipment loadout. Most units are armed with a HK416, or a HK417 for marksmen. Each unit also gets their choice of accessories with specially-built SOPMOD kits. Each rifleman typically carries anywhere from 10 to 12 30-round magazines.
Squad Automatic Weapon
With their enhanced strength and carrying capabilities, a single RI-1 is capable of operating as a one man machinegun crew, carrying the hefty M240B, as well as spare barrels, and copious amounts of ammunition, all by him/herself.
Sidearm
In contrast to other branches of the US military, the primary sidearm of the Remote Infantry Corps is the Glock 18c. Used as an emergency or room clearing weapon, the Remote Infantry Corps RI-1 is fully capable of accurately handling the recoil of fully automatic fire the G18 provides. More traditional troopers can get their hands on a M45A1 or other M1911 variants, if they look hard enough.
Shotgun
Occasionally sawn off and used as a secondary sidearm, the RIC makes use of the Remmington 870 MCS as their go-to scattergun. Handy for close encounters, the 870 is often carried alongside a rifle by RIC units.
Anti-Tank
While typically heavy and uncomfortable for the typical soldier, the RI-1 can huck a pair of AT4 rocket launchers with little difficulty. Each 8-man RIC squad typically carries at least 4 of these portable rocket launchers at a time.

Image Name: Last name, First name, Nicknames if any. Age: Most RIC pilots will typically have some amount of veterancy, few make it here straight out of basic. Gender: Yeah. Ethnicity/Nationality: Country and/or Ethnicity of your character Rank: Going to be using US Marine Corps ranks for this, most characters will fall between Private and Sergeant Role: (Rifleman, Fire team leader, etc.) Physical Description: A short description of your human appearance, not quite as important as we'll be in RI-1 shells most of the time. Also, include any unique decals or distinguishing features on your pilots particular RI-1 shell as well- kill tallies, custom art on the chest or back, former unit markings on the shoulder, nicknames written on, stuff like that. I encourage you to really make your RI-1 shell your own, though remember your character technically 'shares' this shell with up to 3-4 other pilots, who are on shift while you're not. That means your shell might have 3 or 4 unit markings on its arms, or perhaps you and your other co-pilots have decided on a really badass nickname or decal for your shell. Psychological Analysis: Fancy talk for 'Personality'. Give me a good paragraph or so describing your character's personality. Rule of thumb: the more detail, the better. Service Record: Explain how your character became a part of the Remote Infantry Corps. Give me a good feel for where your character. I'm not asking for you to label every moment of your character's life, but I'm also not a fan of 'a mysterious past that will be revealed as the story goes on' Equipment: a list of equipment carried by your RI-1 shell, see the Equipment hider for notes on that.
