Welcome to the Guild, [@Beliael]. Since you're completely new to roleplaying but seem reasonably verbose I suggest you start in the Casual subforum. It's the most mainstream section of the site and the roleplaying/writing skill level there varies from pretty basic to all the way up to practically-Advanced. My advice would be to just dive in feet-first. The only proper way to learn is to do. 

PS. We have almost identical first names, one letter's difference notwithstanding. :hehe
