Not super planned on my part, but Sanguine has run this as a campaign before, so the plot premise comes from them. They may have a clear idea about the direction of the story; I'll let them answer your question in more detail as I myself am pretty new to D&D and basically along for the ride.

And as for your second question, mature content is perfectly fine.
