[@ImportantNobody] As Umbard seized his weapon, the creature twisted partway around. It cocked its head in his direction, saliva and blood slopping off its loose maw, ragged ears perked up. Suliss's left arm hung from its lips, though of the sorcerer, Umbard would only be able to see the man's feet jerking spastically. The monster's features were nearly indistinguishable from the wrinkled mass of its face, glistening lumps rippling and bunching as strange muscles and tendons creaked within its cartilage skull. Two flaps parted on either side of its head and its eyes emerged. They were larger than softballs, as black and wet as the eyes of a rat. They bulged obscenely, the meat and corded muscle around the eyes flexing out with them as if large, clumsy fingers were trying to push its eyes out of their sockets from the inside, a child trying to deform the rubbery head of a dollar store hand puppet. Time seemed to dilate, the moment stretching out as the black eyes began to roll backwards, dull yellow sclera pushing into view. Umbard would know without knowing that things could end terribly if he kept looking. He'd have a moment to look away, only a split second warning to take his eyes off the monster's face. If Umbard decided not to flinch and risk failing in his attack, then once the Magna Pater's eyes had swiveled back into place he'd see that it had his eyes set in its head, a perfect variation of Umbard's eyes, only grotesquely enlarged to fit the monster's sockets. They were luminous in the semi-darkness, baleful and brimming with cold life and a vacant regard, wide to the point of being nearly circular. Umbard would be able to feel its stare as if it were a physical presence, thousands of fuzzy insectile feelers fluttering and crawling and prickling at his skin. Umbard still had his eyes, but the Magna Pater had them too, they shared them. He'd feel its sticky vitality inside of his chest, merging with him in ways that could only be felt, not understood. It felt like rape, rape that had somehow managed to surpass itself and transcend into something almost magnificent in its capacity to disease and defile. There'd be no impediment to Umbard's charge, not if he was intent on following through. It was certainly bad, but the feeling would pass in a flicker. As for the Magna Pater, it seemed content to wait and see if the warrior was going to continue his assault. It slurped Suliss's arm into its mouth like a damp noodle, engorged neck pulsating downwards as it sucked the entire limb into its shivering body. Edit- Evvie would have to ascend the Magna Pater's towering hill of slimed bones to get within reach of the ceiling, and somehow move from stalactite to stalactite to get to the opening.
