She has straight, dark brown hair that falls down to her shoulders, and rather pretty hazel eyes. Rosanna also has a slightly crooked nose due to breaking it when she was very young. While she's somewhat insecure about her nose, it isn't very noticeable to most. Rosanna's fashion sense is, as she describes it, "casually cute"; she often wears blouses and button-ups, preferring to not wear anything too flashy. She always has makeup on whenever she's in public, though she doesn't wear a lot of it. Rosanna also enjoys listening to music on her phone, and as a result tends to have earbuds on whenever she's able to have them. Finally, Rosanna can always be seen wearing a silver necklace, which happens to be a family heirloom given to her by her mother.
Personality:
-Insecure about her face/body -Sociable, friendly to everyone -Forgiving; believes in second chances -Good work ethic -Pretty sarcastic -Doesn't know when to quit -Mischievous -Short-tempered -Very trusting of people -Very apologetic, even when she did nothing wrong -Somewhat childish
Backstory:
Rosanna Veritas grew up as an only child in southern Alaska, on a small farm outside of Anchorage. When she wasn't at school, Rosanna was always helping her parents tend to the farm. She grew used to caring for crops, feeding all of the animals, and the occasional difficult season when the harvest was low. Rosanna very rarely complained about the difficult work, as she found it enjoyable (except for when she had to clean up after the animals; that was much less fun). Her parents, both very loving, raised Rosanna to the best of their abilities despite their meager income. With plenty of space to run around and play, Rosanna grew up to be a healthy and cheerful young girl. She made friends easily at school, who always loved to come over and see all the animals on the family farm, which became a sort of "free petting zoo" to Rosanna's classmates. Despite the rural setting, Rosanna and her parents would regularly make trips to Anchorage for fun; these trips became some of Rosanna's fondest memories of home. But the ordinary farm life didn't last too long for Rosanna. At the tender age of eight, Rosanna's power manifested in what would soon become the beginning of a great deal of change for her. On a cold Saturday morning, in the middle of winter, Rosanna and her father set out to make their rounds on the farm. What stopped them dead in their tracks, though, was the sight of a small, white, female wolf standing about 10 yards away from them. Rosanna's father quickly pushed her back inside the house while he grabbed a rifle; after all, a lone wolf could spell disaster for their flock of sheep. Rosanna cowered in fear as her father reemerged with the rifle, fatally wounding the wolf with one shot to the side and another to the hindquarters. As he left to go get Rosanna's mother, Rosanna herself felt an overwhelming sense of guilt and grief for the poor wolf. Rushing over to the dying predator, thinking it was already dead, the young girl was shocked to see that it was still alive; its breathing was ragged, and its eyes were closed, but it was definitely alive. Rosanna believed she could somehow save the poor animal; not realizing the danger of touching a wild animal, she pressed her hands to the wolf's side as hard as she could to try and stop the bleeding. What happened instead was an intense burst of pain and warmth in both of her arms that extended all the way to her shoulders. Rosanna tried to pull away, but found she couldn't move her arms away at all. She began screaming for her parents; all the while, the she-wolf simply lied there, dying. By the time her parents got there, the ordeal had ended, though Rosanna was still screaming and crying. With blood all over her hands, she was hurried back inside the house, unable to coherently explain what had happened until her parents managed to calm her down. Putting it off as some weird result of shock, Rosanna's parents did their best to return their daughter to her normal life. But Rosanna felt...different, somehow. As though there was something resting in the back of her mind that wasn't there before. The next night, as Rosanna ate dinner with her parents, she felt a sudden sense of nausea come over her. When she excused herself to the bathroom, she found herself stumbling as her vision became blurred. Keeling over onto all fours, Rosanna cried out as she began to grow in size and sprout hair all over her body. Her teeth sharpened, and her fingernails became claws. Her parents shook her, screaming as they tried to put a stop to what was happening to their daughter, but nothing could be done to stop it. What was once their daughter had now morphed into a small white wolf; the very same wolf that had been killed a day before. Rosanna-now a wolf-trembled violently as her parents could only stare at her with fear in their eyes. Shakily rising to her feet-and realizing she now had four of them-Rosanna could only whimper as she tried to will herself into transforming back into herself. Eventually, she was somehow able to do just that; though the transformation itself was just as unpleasant. After that night, Rosanna and her parents struggled to try and make sense of this new-found ability. They even took her out of school for several months until she was able to fully control her transformation, which took a great deal of practice. Eventually, with the help of her parents, Rosanna was able to stop her random shifting, and instead will herself into it. After she returned to school, the young girl found that her life almost became normal again. But it wasn't quite the same; animals reacted differently to her, especially the herd animals. They almost seemed to be afraid of her. As she got older, Rosanna began to explore her power a bit more. One day, she happened to catch a butterfly, and try to repeat whatever she had done to the wolf. After focusing intently, she felt the same sense of warmth and pain shoot through her arms. But it lasted for considerably less time; when it was done, Rosanna was horrified to find that the butterfly was dead. It was then that she realized her power was fatal to whatever she..."absorbed" into herself. The last time she "absorbed" an animal was a little hummingbird that one of the farm's cats had caught. Rosanna knew the poor bird was dying, and again focused intently on her power. The pain, the warmth...it lasted a bit longer than this time, though still not as long as it did with the wolf. It seemed that the process was painful for her, but not for what she was "taking in"; it was almost as if the bird had simply fallen asleep. That put her conscience at ease, if only just a bit. By the time she got into high school, Rosanna was able to keep her life as normal as possible; nobody knew except for her and her parents. But when she turned 16, her parents revealed that they had been in contact with a special group who dealt with children just like Rosanna: ATLAS. After a lengthy discussion, Rosanna agreed to join Palladium Academy, if only to put her parents' minds at ease. Maybe there were people who could relate to what she'd been through. Packing her bags and wishing her friends goodbye, Rosanna set off for the Academy with high hopes. If she could really master her power here, maybe it could eventually do some good.
Other Skills:
-Athletic, due to frequent labor on her farm -"Green thumb" or skill with growing plants in general

Power Set
Name:
Absorptive Shapeshifting

Abilities:

Rosanna has the ability to "absorb" a living thing and then shapeshift into it. When she has transformed, she still retains control over her mind and body; she is still "Rosanna", just in a different body. The body is an exact clone of whatever she absorbed as she has copied everything, right down to its DNA. However, the process of absorbing a living thing will, in fact, kill it; Rosanna is essentially draining it of its life. She also has a vague, conscious "awareness" of her other forms in the back of her mind. She can remain in one of her forms for a while, but it drains her of her energy. While in another form, Rosanna has access to that form's physical abilities; for instance, her wolf form has the heightened sense of smell that wolves have, while her hummingbird and butterfly forms both allow her to fly. The time it takes for her to transform is dependent upon the difference in size between her regular human form and whatever she is transforming into. For instance, it would take a while for her to transform into an elephant or an ant, due to the physical size difference. Size also determines how long it will take her to "absorb" something; an elephant could take up to two minutes, while an ant would only take a few seconds. Each form also ages independently; that physical form only ages when she is actually in it. Any injuries sustained in one body will, however, transfer to the others. An injury to the leg in her wolf form will transfer to her human form and vice versa. Injuries to parts that other forms don't have-wings, for instance-will go to that limb's "equivalent". A wing injury would become an arm injury, or vice versa. It is also worth noting the theoretical parts of Rosanna's power; she can, in theory, become a plant/tree. However, because plants/trees don't have self consciousness, transforming into either would essentially knock Rosanna into permanent unconsciousness. This would prevent her from transforming back into herself, as she actually needs to be conscious/awake to transform. In addition, her power could also be used on a human, but her power does not physically prevent something from resisting the absorption, and the initial sensation of being absorbed has the same "jolting" feeling of having cold water poured on you. As such, it would be nearly impossible to try and absorb someone who is asleep.

Weaknesses:

Rosanna's power comes with a fair number of weaknesses and limitations. For one, she cannot "jump" from one form to another; she has to transform back into her human self before she can transform into another animal. In addition, her ability to absorb something is strictly limited to organic matter. The process of absorbing something is also very painful for her, and once she begins the process itself, she cannot pull away. However, whatever she's absorbing can pull away from her/resist if it can physically move away. Rosanna can also be pulled away by another person/thing, preventing her from finishing the absorption. If the process is stopped or interrupted, her target will merely experience mild drowsiness for a few moments. After Rosanna has absorbed a new form, she has to practice moving in it before she can use it effectively. For instance, with her hummingbird form, she had to learn how to fly, and with her wolf form, she had to get used to moving around on four legs. Otherwise, she will be completely uncoordinated. As stated before, Rosanna also has to take some time to transform. During this time, movement is very difficult, as the process is painful and physically debilitating for her. While the process may get easier with enough practice, it will never exactly be easy for Rosanna. In addition, transforming and being in other bodies takes a toll on her physical energy. She can only stay in a different form for about two hours before her exhaustion essentially forces her back into her human body. Resting between transformations is critical for her health and body, especially if she had to transform in rapid succession with no break in between.

Other:

Rosanna was named after the song Rosanna, by Toto. It is also her favorite song.
