He likes to wear plain colors or simplistic designs, and doesn't accessorize much. His shoes were probably pretty trendy at one point, but he's worn them out to the point that the colors are fading and the soles have been worn nearly smooth. Kenichi's body isn't super built or anything because of his age, but he's definitely got more tone and strength going on than the average fourteen year old, even one with superpowers. Costume: Kenichi's hero costume is a simple, reinforced black body suit with white lines running here and there like jagged electronic circuitry. He doesn't wear a helmet or a mask, but does wear a set of gauntlets and boots that serve as much to enhance the power of his strikes as they do to protect him. He's most certainly hot-blooded. But, as long as there's no bad blood or misunderstandings, he's actually quite the friendly sort--he tries to encourage those around him to do their best, and is quick to offer a helping hand. However, he holds long grudges, and once he's decided on a course of action he can be stubborn to a fault. He won't fight at the drop of a hat, but once he gets started it's going to take some doing to make him stop. His anger is explosive, and he's the type to go to sleep stewing over something and wake up the next day just as hot under the collar as he was when it started. Kenichi's core belief is that, for Good to always win over Evil, Good cannot afford to be Nice. In his opinion, the world would be a lot better off if they just got rid of Villains instead of setting them up with three hots and a cot on the taxpayers' dime. Kenichi won't take the law into his own hands--at least not to an extreme degree--but he has no patience for "talking them down" or showing mercy.

Background

Kenichi's mother is a traditional housewife who chose family over a career. His father is a reporter and photographer who has traveled around the world...or at least, he used to be. During a violent insurgency in a third world country, Kenichi's father was injured in an attack by the terrorists. He survived and made it back home, but his career was effectively over because of his health, and now he writes from a desk at home. Kenichi was very young at the time this happened--but the day they received that phone call, and the images his father brought back, are burned into his mind forever. Ever since, Kenichi has had a rather extreme opinion of the world. He had only ever considered Hero work in the same capacity all kids do, with admiration for his favorites and the excitement of their battles against Villains. But now he seriously wanted to be one--not for the money, or the fame, or even just to do the right thing. Well, he did want to do the right thing...But what difference did it really make if you protected people? You could stand there and be a shield, last as long as you could...or you could be the sword that cuts off the problem at its roots, so that no one will ever dare raise their hands against an innocent bystander ever again. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. He started working out, and training with his Quirk. He studied hard, especially since academics didn't come very easily to him, and he did tons of research on the Hero schools and what they required. He couldn't get into Yuuei/UA because of a bad performance on the written exam, but was able to cram just in time to pull his score up for Komei. What was better, he actually managed a high enough score to be considered "middle of the pack," instead of just barely scraping by. He hopes that once things really get started, he can push himself all the way to the top!

Abilities

Quirk:
Hyper Ventilation: This is a Mutant type Quirk that primarily effects the user's respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The user can inhale, exhale, hold, and somewhat filter absolutely enormous quantities of air through the simple act of sucking it in or blowing it out. At first glance it seems more like a "breath weapon," creating pulling vacuums or pressurized superbreath, however there is another aspect to it. When inhaling, the user's blood, muscular tissues, and so forth become extremely oxygen rich. They will produce more red blood cells, flush lactic acid more efficiently, and so forth. This has an effect similar to blood doping in athletes, only multiplied many times over--as long as the user has a steady supply of breathable air, they can make themselves superhumanly strong and fast, and they can go for long periods of time without tiring out much like a long-distance runner. However, their increased endurance is not the same as durability--they are not any tougher, nor any more resistant to bullets or blades or what have you. Obviously, air that isn't very clean or is low in oxygen can reduce the effectiveness of this power or expose the user to greater risk of ill effects. Changes in atmospheric pressure have a much greater effect on the user of this Quirk, and while the user can hold their breath for nearly ten minutes at a time, if their air supply is cut off before they can actually take a breath they will succumb even more quickly than normal humans due to their increased reliance on oxygen. The user must be careful of their surroundings, as during a powerful inhalation certain objects might be sucked in and choke them. Also, despite the entire purpose of the power being to have super breathing capability, the user must also beware of too much air--if the amounts of oxygen and carbon dioxide aren't being exchanged properly, the user might suffer from oxygen toxicity or other such things. Finally, this exponentially greater amount of oxygen is stored in the lungs under pressure--it doesn't make the user inflate or expand their chest or anything else. Thus, heavy blows to the diaphragm or injuries to the lungs are intensely dangerous.
Talents: Kenichi is an excellent fighter, despite having no real martial arts training. It's mostly due to his physical abilities and raw instincts, along with more experience than is probably appropriate for a student. In line with the above, Kenichi has an aptitude for learning most physical skills, and can sometimes pick things up by sight alone. He's not some prodigy or anything, just naturally better at hands-on activities than at book-learning.
