In his 'old' life, William was known for his dedication to his work and occasional interests..with few words to share with strangers. It was surprising for fellow colleagues to hear him coo over the phone during a video call featuring a babbling infant..sometimes the occasional toddler as his face would redden muttering that his sister was nagging him for not visiting as often. While with his 'clients', the utter dedication to restore them to pristine conditions regardless of what their standing was in life. A mortician's job isn't one noted for its refinery or fame..but it made him feel as if he was doing something in the world. Lacking magic like the rest of world had him a more guarded man towards strangers..favors had to be pulled like teeth if asked. While he isn't exactly personable with strangers and can have a rather sharp tongue if pushed far enough. Frosty would be an apt front for him when it comes to his own affairs that he feels are his own problems. Even among those he trusts, he would rather shift the focus of his issues to someone else's problems all with a warm smile. Someone digging into his own problems is asking for trouble and possible ire. ~ History ~ Born into an almost overly chatty family as his childhood was filled with four siblings to share his parent's attention with. So it wasn't surprising to see him observing the chaos around him instead of being apart of it all. It wasn't as if the child was shy, but just much less..out-spoken compared to his siblings. When his magic did not appear like his siblings, it made him all the more guarded as the inevitable questions of 'why' floated about. A smile would be his answer on how he felt about the subject..and that was it. His loved ones worried as he grew up..employment would be limited as William would shrug and say he wished to help people..somehow. The medical field called him..but few people willing to take the risk of having a 'normal' doctor nor would he be able to beat out other students with healing magics. While his siblings gently prodded away at him to focus on his education and future prospects..as limited as they were. Still there was pride in his parents voices upon graduating from college, as well as the clinging hands of his nieces and nephews trying to show off with little tricks here and there. Not actual magic, but sleight of hands and such learned from magazines and such. To make their abnormal uncle feel a bit..normal..it was sweet in a way. Nothing failed to make him smile at the end of the day..and with his future job it was important to keep that spark of happiness alive. Alive wasn't exactly his clients as he would find out. The only clients that seemed to be in his future...were the dead. So he found himself working in a small lab preparing corpses of the downtrodden and poor to make their final rest pleasant. It was poor-paying and thankless aside from the occasional pat on the cheek by a weeping widow, still his smile remained..it was his lot in life. Until one day, his client for the morning was strange..and alive..until everything went black. Bizarre was his next experience as the man claimed to be able to grant magic to those he found interesting, easier to find believable if William hadn't woken up with a splitting headache and a foul mood. Still the idea of finally becoming like the rest of society was..intriguing..but at what cost. Mortuary Science. Associate's ~ Job ~ Mortician. ~ Element ~ Beast.
