She's decent with a lockpick, passable as a pickpocket, and alarmingly adept at tasks that cleric's have no business performing. Physically capable and light on her feet, Nim is not your stereotypical cleric hiding beneath layers of armor or behind a shield. She has [b]some formal training[/b] in the finer aspects of [b]sword fighting[/b], but ultimately her technique with a rapier is far from refined, instead she relies on daring, a heavy dose of unpredictability, and a small measure of luck to see her through. While no bard, Nim nonetheless enjoys playing music, and is not half-bad with a flute. Whether it is because of her strong faith in Olidammara or as Nim tells it her status as one of the most favored clerics of her god, Nim is a prodigiously [b]gifted spellcaster[/b]. Years of study and practical have left her with a fearsome array of [b]divine spells[/b] to command. Having learned from more than one successful thief, her clothes have plenty of clever and well-hidden pockets. When she is on the road or expecting trouble, Nim also wears Elven Chain beneath her clothing, extremely light chainmail made of very fine mithral links, it is a wonderfully discreet way for the cleric to protect herself from unexpected blades. Where or how she acquired this armor remains a mystery. To shield her from the elements Nim often wears a fashionable wide-brimmed hat that she claims she liberated from a very boring noblewoman. Nim's particular amulet is positively brimming with divine energy. Masterfully crafted, the amulet is not just for show, and Nim uses it as the focus for her spells as well as a tool for turning undead, if she is unfortunate enough to encounter them. In the way of weapons, Nim carries a rapier, the favored weapon of Olidammara, on her hip. However, it is clear that the weapon is not frequently used and the young half-elf prefers using divine magic or better yet diplomacy to handle any trouble she encounters. Carefully tucked within a discreet pocket of her shirt Nim carries an ancient and strange looking coin. The coin has a distinctly magical aura about it and it is marked with strange letters that seem to be of an arcane nature. Most curiously, the coin appears to have been scorched by fire and bears the touch of what must have been a truly unbearable heat. Those few individuals with a passing knowledge of the Infernal language, will be able to discern that the coin bears the name of a particularly infamous archdevil. Finally, Nim also has an exquisite wooden flute on her person. A beautiful wooden instrument with intricate patterns carved along its length, it is an instrument that would satisfy even the most discerning of bards. It is often hard for others to know whether the stories she tells about herself, her travels or even Olidammara are true. Of course, this is exactly how Nim and one would could safely guess Olidammara prefers it. Putting her faith in her luck, Olidammara, and herself, Nim can be quite daring if not outright reckless when faced with danger. To those that know her well, her philosophy in life seems to be that so long as the reward is great enough, then gambling, even with your life, is not just a good idea but to be exalted. [/color][/indent][/indent] [sub][color=FFD700][H3]Background:[/h3][/color][/sub] [indent][indent][color=lightgray]Born in the Free City of Ironhaven, Nim is the product of a brief, tumultuous love affair between a visiting Elven dignitary and a courtesan well-known in the upper circles of the nobility. The relationship ended shortly before her Elven father returned to his homeland and Nim was raised by her mother. Nim's mother had little time or interest in her daughter, although she loved the half-elf child in her own peculiar way. Left chiefly to her own devices, Nim grew up spending her days in the streets, hardly recognizable from the street urchins she considered to be her only friends. Several half-siblings followed over the years and as she grew up Nim remained fiercely independent, both out of need and desire. On the cusp of womanhood, Nim left her increasingly crowded home, falling in with a guild of thieves, vagabonds, and cut-throats that plied their trade across the realm. In a different life, one where she never found her way to the priesthood, Nim would have continued to master this highly illegal profession and would have eventually become a most excellent thief. However, the gods it seemed had other plans and she quickly found herself locked in the uncomfortable dungeon of some pompous prince, accused of facilitating the theft of a significant amount of gold. Unfortunately, as this gold remained unfound and because Nim had precious little information to offer, it was quickly decided that an execution was in order. A lucky escape from the executioners axe, followed by an even luckier series of increasingly improbable escapes from the knights that pursued her convinced Nim that there was a greater game afoot, one that she had clearly not been told about. Running from the servants of the law was however quite tiring and in short order, Nim found herself at the end of her rope (figuratively speaking) hiding in a centuries-old building that had been lost to the ravages of time and an unpredictable economy. She knew that justice as the morally inclined like to call it was not far away. Despite her wit and peculiarly fortuitous luck she had been unable to outpace her hunters and she found herself lost in despair. If Nim is to be believed (and she probably should not be), it was at this point that another improbable event occurred that led her to meet [i]The Laughing Rogue[/i] himself. Burden by the weight of a recently liberated purse of coins and sure she would not see the next sunrise, Nim deposited the heavy bag at a small shrine dedicated to Olidammara, unceremoniously located in a corner of the abandoned pub (as befitting tradition). Soon after she found herself engaged in a lively conversation with the charming deity, who was not only pleased with the offering of gold, but quite interested in the story of her life. Nim claims that over several bottles of wine and a wonderful evening of dancing he taught her not only the principles of his faith but how to cast powerful illusions that finally allowed her to escape her stubborn constables that hounded her and start her life anew as a cleric of Oldammara. In the years that followed Nim sought out her fortune across the lands, traveling widely, drinking much wine, and spreading the ever-changing teachings of her faith.
