Rolling onto her side, Sylvia opened her groggily eyes, staring at the far wall as she reached to shut off the alarm clock and sat upwards. Rubbing her eyes, it wasn't long before Sylvia noticed the wet sensation of drool down her chin and the pillow she was just resting her head on. While Sylvia was an early riser, there had been a few select times where she unknowingly drooled away in her sleep. Sighing, Sylvia realized that today was one of those days as she pulled off the pillow cover and went to place the cover in her hamper, as well grabbing a washcloth to cleanse the drool off her face. However, not everything was planned to go well for Sylvia. Standing up from the bed, Sylvia took a step forward before she lost her footing, and suddenly fell straight towards the ground. "Owie..." Sylvia mumbled as she pushed herself off the ground and went to brush off the onesie she was wearing free from any possible dirt. Such a thing was unlikely, but Sylvia's mother had bought the outfit for her daughter, and Sylvia didn't want to see her mother upset if it was ruined or damage in any manner at all. Once Sylvia was sure she was stable on her feet once more, she continued to make her way to the hamper, and in turn, the bathroom to clean herself up. Filling the tub up with water, and then bubble bath, Sylvia made sure she was clean--perhaps even spotless--before accomplishing anything else. Wrapping a towel around herself and a smaller one around her hair, Sylvia turned on the television in her bedroom while she went to brush her teeth. Everything had seemed normal for the daily news and weather forecast, but that had quickly changed with the notice of an interruption. Feeling that the news may be important, Sylvia approached the small television as she brushed her teeth and listened to the announcement. A few seconds in and Sylvia realized what the announcement was--a chance to live the tales of her father and go on adventures as a fledgling trainer. Quickly finishing the rest of her morning routine, Sylvia hastily dressed herself before running down the stairs to the lower floor of the house. After the descent and as her foot stepped from the last step, it appeared sprinting downstairs was hardly a good idea for Sylvia as she stumbled once more, falling down again. Thankfully, her father had heard the thud--by now used to Sylvia's clumsiness--and approached her, offering his daughter a hand to help her stand up. "Darling, how many times have I told you it isn't wise to run in the house? I thought you would've learned by now." Her father, Arthur Quinn, explained as Sylvia--once again--brushed herself free of any dirt. "I'm sorry, dad, but I heard the news! Professor Sycamore is giving people the chance to Pokémon trainers, although..." Sylvia exclaimed, looking upwards at her father as if she was trying to ask for his approval just through facial expression. Her father simply smiled at Sylvia, and patted the top of her head. "It seems it is time for our chick to leave the nest." Mr. Quinn explained, giving a nod to his daughter. He had always told Sylvia about his adventures as a trainer since she was a wee toddler, and it wasn't surprising if any of it had rubbed off on Sylvia. "However, you'll have to ask your mother as well. I'm sure she'd be worried if you disappeared without telling her about your plans to become a trainer. Go on, she's outside hanging the laundry." Her father continued as the two approached the screen door and stepped outside. The Vaniville air was always refreshing for both body and spirit, and today had been no different. It had the country atmosphere to it, free from the pollution of the bigger cities in Kalos or any of the other regions in the world. Holding on to her hat to keep it from blowing away in the wind, Sylvia walked over to the clothesline and began to help her mother hang the laundry. It had appeared that her father's Furret held the same excitement that Sylvia had, as the Pokémon leaped down from her mother's shoulders and quickly scrambled its way onto Sylvia like a big fluffy scarf. "Fur, Furret!" It cried in excitement, snuggling against Sylvia as she reached upwards to hang one of her father's plaid shirts on the clothesline. Her mother looked over in Sylvia's direction with a smile as she took out another shirt and hung it alongside the plaid one. "Mom, remember those stories Dad used to tell me when h-" Sylvia spoke, before her mother stopped her, holding a finger to her lips before Sylvia said anything more. "I heard the announcement earlier. Admittedly, I'm hesitant to send you out into the world, but you are your father's child after all. If it wasn't today, it would have been some other day that you would ask to go out to have an adventure." Her mother, Eileen, replied, placing a hand on Sylvia's shoulder while Furret climbed down and ran towards Mr. Quinn. "Just remember to call us every once in awhile, okay? Make sure you brush your teeth, and eat a healthy breakfast, and... and... Mrs. Quinn paused, as if she was trying to think up anything that she wanted her daughter to make sure of. Eventually, her mother shook her head and smiled once more at Sylvia. "Just make sure you stay safe, okay? Don't get into trouble or else you'll worry your mother. We'll be rooting for you the whole way, sweetie." Her mother explained, taking a moment to embrace Sylvia. Her father and Furret soon followed, turning the sweet encounter into a group hug. Sylvia couldn't help but to smile, as her grand journey was just about to begin. However, little did Sylvia know that that adventure would be one of the most eventful undertakings of her life, with the potential not only meet friends, rivals and Pokémon, but also the possibility to change Kalos and herself as it stood.
[@Natascha]
