He was on active patrol in mechanized infantry divisions walking alongside Hylo scout walkers defending against the constant Frontier threat. Year 2031 McMillan showed bravery in the face of adversity, this was no better exemplified during a skirmish against Frontier forces out in the freelands; McMillan, even without a mech approached the enemy position in a prone stance, he led his squad mates through a defilade created by the intense firefight, he eventually got close enough to throw a satchel charge onto the Frontier forces assault walkers and disabled them, the Hylo force pushed forward, making use of the confusion that he and his squad mates caused; this forced a retreat from the Frontier forces and won them the skirmish. Year 2032 McMillan and his squad were awarded high honors for their valiance during the Orio war. McMillan eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant in the Imperial military, he was then given the choice whether to continue as an infantryman or join military Academy for officers training and mech training. He chose the Academy in order to further his military career, he graduated at the top of his class earning praise and interest from many of his officers and officers who observed the trainings and lessons, including those in Imperial High Command. Year 2033 McMillan is commissioned by high ranking officials over a military project called “Dragoon”; this project involved the development of a new western coalition Light Scout Recon mech based on the Hybrid Generator concept. McMillan agreed to test the new prototype alongside another mech specialist from the Therux State, Lieutenant Mira Kane. The tests were conducted under special permission from high command allowing a joint development program within the Therux State. Year 2034 McMillan and Mira finish military trials of the LSR MK2-A1 however, the competition from the new LRM-15 from a Frontier weapons development contractor called The Atlas Company was better in every respect to the LSR MK2-A1. Desperate to keep up, the Joint weapons development team produce the third and final prototype in the LSR series, the LSR MK2-B, both Lieutenants start testing the latest prototype. Year 2035 The LSR MK2-B is successful in the trials and proved a worthy competitor to The Atlas Company’s Jackal as the LSR MK2-B was as capable in some respects to the Jackal while being able to do the Jackal’s main objective, this was enough to get the design approved by military officials. The patent for the design went to the Therux State, the imperial officers who were charged with overseeing the program were not pleased with this, thus disavowed everyone involved in the project and manipulated imperial news in order to protect their pride, dignity, and themselves from their own laws. This left McMillan and the other Imperial personnel to negotiate their stay in The Therux state as the Hylo Empire still had closed borders after the Orio war. -------------------------------------------------/McMillan’s Profile/------------------------------------------------- Preferred Strategies: -Ambush -Shock-and-Awe -Know Your Enemy -Unorthodox Tactics Employed: Prolonged observation of the target, while setting up the ambush, this allows him to have superior preparation against the enemy, control over the battlefield, and clear exit routes if his plan doesn’t work the way he intended it to work. He likes to strike with as much speed and force he can put behind his attack, if he cannot do that to his opponent then he would employ an unorthodox strategy to defeat his opponent often from the observation and study that he has made on his target. She was quickly deployed to service to help stabilize the battle scarred Therux State, she was deployed as a crime deterrent in more dilapidated and extremely plagued areas of the nation. Her skill set and weapons training allowed her to operate with minimal collateral damage and with maximum effect against her targets. Her assistance of the crippled security forces allowed for some areas to be alleviated of the rising crime rate, though impressive it was not enough to curb the civil unrest. Year 2033 Mira was chosen by the state to assist with the development of a new coalition mech in an attempt to further relations with The Hylo Empire. The Project is dubbed “Dragoon”, Mira is introduced to her Hylo counterpart, Kennard McMillan. Preliminary tests for the prototype designate: LSR MK2-A begin. The preliminary tests end after the MK2-A as the MK2-A variant was a test bed for the new chassis and components, three months later, resulting in the improved LSR MK2-A1, military trials begin. Year 2034 A rival mech of the same class is successfully developed from a Frontier Company forces officials to push the development of the Dragoon project further, the LSR MK2-B is produced. Military trials begin, the MK2-B performs with high marks in most areas and rivals some of the Jackal's capabilities having a completely different approach to reconnaissance, most criteria were met and the LSR MK2-B was quickly introduced into both Hylo and Therux armed forces. Year 2035 The LSR MK2-B is now being produced as an official coalition vehicle. The LSR MK2-B design patents went to the Therux state, this was an insult to Hylo officials and as such they disavowed and exiled all Hylo test pilots and engineers in order to keep Hylo involvement with the project a secret and to protect Hylo pride. McMillan and a few others attempted to negotiate with Therux officials, however due to civil unrest and the nature of the problem it took time to process the now exiled Hylo personnel. Mira negotiated for McMillan’s case and requested for him to become a state pilot in lieu of her new role as a scout operator. Two months later she later retired from the military along with McMillan, they took their mech which they named "Hound" with them after buying it with their combined accumulated savings, this included extra parts and modules, a Supply Canister, an auto-loader assembly, and armor modifications. -------------------------------------------------/Kane’s Profile/------------------------------------------------- Preferred Strategies: -Ambush -Shock-and-Awe Tactics Employed: Mira prefers to get into combat as fast as possible, though she isn’t opposed to waiting, she will jump at any opportunity to damage her opponent, she is aggressive and accurate, if she can strike without being seen she considers it a bigger victory. Her strategy revolves around ending the fight as fast as possible with minimal loss of ammunition and collateral damage. Height: 4.6 Meters [Normal/Low Profile] 7.3 Meters tall [With legs extending the chassis upwards] Weight: 30.8 tonnes [Fully Loaded W/Supplies] 30.3 tonnes [Fully loaded w/o Supplies] 27.7 tonnes [All munitions spent] Top Speeds: 5.8mph [Low Profile Movement] 10.4mph [Mechanized Infantry Patrol or walking speed] 45.6mph [Pack Patrol or running speed] 102.2mph [Jump speed depending on distance] Power Source: Liquid cooled Hybrid Generator Primary Armament Two top mounted 30x133mm Type-34A gun pod modules, capable of short to mid-range engagements, the large rounds is just enough to penetrate light to medium armored targets, however targets that boasts more armor require the use of the Type-3R or Type-10G. These gun pods fire at the rate of 600 rounds per minute but accuracy suffers at longer range due to the unstable platform and high recoil. Secondary Armament: One belly mounted 50. Caliber Type-20MG, Mounted for general anti-infantry, though not as powerful as the 30MM on top of the chassis the LSR MK2-B was never designed for full mech-to-mech combat, and instead was designed as a recon unit that can support infantry patrols, short range recon, long range recon, and harass and thus didn’t need the extra fire-power trading it for lightening the weight. The 50. caliber was the general anti-infantry deterrent against people who attempt to defeat the mech from underneath. Tertiary Armament: Two back mounted Missile launchers, one pod filled with Type-3R dumb fire rockets, the other pod held Type-10G guided anti-armor missiles. The missiles pack enough punch to cause havoc however regular LSR MK2-B never came with an auto-loader system, fully loaded the launcher has 14 Type-3R dumb-fire missiles and five Type-10G guided missiles, in addition, since it is a modular design, you can modify the launcher to hold two Type-3R rocket pods or two Type-10G guided missile pods depending on situations, but this is either done before a mission or during mission down-time. Systems and Equipment: It features a four pronged laser cutter used to cut vegetation and help remove problematic materials in order to clear a space to hide in, cut into other bigger mechs at close range doing heavy damage to internal parts and mechanisms, this is one of the reasons why some call the LSR MK2-B the nickname “Tick”, and cut into a highly secure locations that allow it to infiltrate places with ease. Along with this it has an advanced sensor and targetting array that are visual, audio and otherwise. Compared to most combat focused mechs, this allows it to use all of its armaments to the fullest while not compromising its combat effectiveness as the guns use some of this data for tracking short range targets while missiles feed information from the Dragoon’s sensors long range sensors and IR laser markers. Note that the Dragoon can also relay all this sensor information to another unit such as artillery in order to call in support. This does not however remove the pilots from the situations, the weapons officer designates priority targets, and the Mech Operator and navigator maneuvers the mech while the weapons officer assists, the weapons officer also has a choice to take manual control of a gun and start shooting that way. Classification: Its body class is a light frame that is armored to the point where it can resist a variety of small arms fire but light explosions are capable of disabling it if rolled towards the rear and bottom of the mech, heavier weapons such as missiles and Anti-armor guns can easily rip the Dragoon to pieces. This has never been a problem as the Mech’s light weight and low profile allowed it to hide in the shadows, and if need be its speed allowed it to get out of a direct confrontation before it compromised its safety. Class: 3 It's high Accuracy and tracking capabilities give it free range against opponents that are close enough for its gun complement and its missile launchers at farther ranges. It boasts a high class targeting system supported by its array of sensors visual, audio, and otherwise allowing it to track targets in almost any environment and any direction. Its armament is light though when fully loaded it can take down at least a few armored target if given the chance to do so. There are no auto-loaders on the LSR MK2-B due to its function as a Light Scout, it was never added because of the weight increase, however it can be modified with one but it would impact its ability to high jump as the load would exceed the limit of the shock absorbers, actuators, and hydraulics, thus most pilots would rather bring a supply-unit with them on long range reconnaissance. The armament was mostly tailored to target infantry and light to medium armored vehicles, the results of such an attack is why some call the Dragoon “Ripper”. Class: 4 The Dragoon is capable of a maneuver called “High-Jump” which allows it to traverse uneven or impassable terrain if needed, some crew use it as a way to jump onto enemy mechs, or surprise unsuspecting enemy patrols, this is one of the reasons why the Dragoon is sometimes called the affectionate nickname “Flea” and “Toad”. This maneuver is usually paired with its thrusters to help stick the landing, the speeds attained with this method are astounding and it quickly became one of the main methods of travel. Class: 6 The Dragoon was never meant to take on mechs with better armor ratings and larger weapon calibers head on, its long range sensors and tracking keep it far from combat allowing its operators to plan and assess the situation before launching an attack, in most cases the Dragoon is often seen as a unit capable of harassing enemy convoys, ambushing larger threats if prepared to do so, supporting infantry advances, and lasing targets for other mechs and vehicles such as artillery units. Class: 7 Summary: The Dragoon has a solid scout build, however lacks the fire power to take on bigger mechs in sustained combat, it is not as maneuverable as other mechs in the same category but has a high top speed and a relatively low profile which makes it better as an infiltrator or skirmisher rather than a full on anti-mech role, it has state of the art sensors and targeting arrays that help it and other Mechs search for targets. It is a mech that needs to make use of its sensors and its design in order to win in any combat engagement, and a common strategy would be to ambush the opponent jumping out of nowhere, locking on from a distance, hailing with rockets, or cutting into their vital components using the laser cutter. Development History: Hylo and Therux officials agreed to do a mechanized project in order to have a standardized coalition mech that can do long-range reconnaissance to fill the gaps in coalition ranks and to try and stabilize relations through a joint project. The first prototype ever produced of the Dragoon was put into hard testing, as it was a test of the hydraulics, shock absorbers, actuators, and leg construction. The prototype was then constructed around the concept of heavy armor, experimenting whether or not the chassis could hold such heavy armaments such as seeker warheads, cannons, and other weapons. Needless to say it was a failure due to its high profile, weight, slow movement, and occasional break downs. It was dubbed LSR MK2-A. The A1 prototype was closer to stated criteria and was suppose to come into service by 2034 however a Frontier company called Atlas released its version of a reconnaissance mech and proved more advanced than the A1, with the amount of resources poured into the project the development team pushed the design further with a new set of criteria to compete with the new Recon Mech. The LSR MK2-B was born, its construction was modular so most parts were replaceable and repairable, there were spaces for extra armor, and the rocket pods were interchangeable allowing it to carry either ten guided Anti-Armor missiles or 28 dumb-fire HE missiles or a mix of both, there was even room for an auto loader though due to weight concerns and costs auto-loaders were never installed on the base design, however one can be installed if requested. The LSR MK2-B was then put through Military trials and passed with flying colors meeting most if not all criteria needed for the coalition. The Therux state then patented its design crediting only Therux engineers and pilots, Imperial Hylo officials understandably exiled and disavowed the pilots and engineers involved in the project and manipulated any news covering the LSR MK2-B’s release in an attempt to save face and preserve their pride. Thus the joint project pushed the coalition members further apart, the opposite of the objectives that they were suppose to achieve.
[@Thecrash20] I used your mech and the company that made it in the back story, it's quite a key plot element for the characters and the mech so if you have time, check it out if it's okay, sorry if I didn't inform you ahead of time it just kind of flowed out of my head. EDIT: And then the internet catches up and I find out you changed your mech and backstory *awkwardly laughs* well shit. Gotta edit :b
