K E N I C H I

Komei - Left Wing

Like some of the others, Kenichi considered this one of the most--possibly the most--important days of his life. A model student he was not, but a slacker even less so; he hadn't just gotten up early to get to the school, he had been up since 5 AM that morning just like he had ever since he had decided to seriously pursue Heroics. Every day he did fifty pushups, situps, squats, and jumping jacks. After that, a two mile run with one of those breathing masks. Shower, breakfast, dressed, out the door, on the train. He'd been here since 7:30 this morning, tapping one foot and trying to keep his breathing shallow so he wouldn't ruffle anyone around him. The crowd got more desperate as the clock ticked on, and when the doors finally opened it was like a flood breaking through a dam. Kenichi pushed his way through like everyone else, but given that he was probably one of the shortest ones there--at least among the boys--he had to struggle to keep from getting pushed around himself. He could have used his Quirk, he supposed, but that would be a bit much; he didn't want to start anything or hurt someone on the first day, no matter how peeved he was at the moment...right? The front doors were blocked. The crowd surged this way and that, and a vein pulsed in Kenichi's forehead as he struggled to get himself out of the throng without bowling anyone over. This was Hero school, he couldn't keep the same delinquent attitude he'd had at his last school, right--? He wasn't even sure where he was now, because there were so many goddamned people and they wouldn't stop friggin' pushing-- "ALRIGHT ALREADY!" He sucked a sharp breath in through his nose, and several students around the smaller boy felt as if their clothes and hair were being pulled towards him. Belying his size, he roughed his way through the crowd like they were ragdolls, forcing his way to the front. They were at the left-wing entrance of Komei Academy. The rookie Assistant Teacher Isshin stood in the middle of the hallway, adjusting his glasses and smiling like some kind of villain. He faced the student's direction as they were making their way towards him and briefly glanced at his watch. "Oh my, Look at the time. It is 8:20, you kids better rush to class before you are marked absent. Chop Chop!" He clapped his hands twice. " Komei Academy has implemented a new zero tolerance policy on absences. Let's see, if I recall correctly... anyone who is marked absent will be expelled from the Academy! Better hurry!" He moved aside, revealing that almost a dozen more of himself had gathered to block their way. Kenichi's eyes narrowed. They'd already done the entrance exam; a practical, a written test, student interviews...What was this bullcrap!? "Alright teach--just don't blame me if you get hurt." The short, younger boy growled. He crouched closer to the floor, a runner's three point stance...except, somehow, it seemed more accurate to call it a wild beast poised for the hunt. Kenichi opened his mouth and breathed in deeply. With a sound like a jet engine, a vacuum began to draw air in from all around him. Loose clothing, hair, even the cards on the table way down at the end of the hallway began to flutter. Some students covered their ears with a wince as the sudden drop in pressure caused their eardrums to pop. Kenichi drew it all down into his lungs, more than even a scuba diver's tank could hold. He closed his mouth...then grinned, wide enough to show off his canines. A duplication Quirk...but it doesn't matter how many of him there are if his physical abilities aren't enhanced at all! His skin flushed all over his body, especially along his forearms and neck where the veins could be seen pulsing bright red. A single bead of sweat broke out on his forehead. "JET...HUNTING!" It started as a dash, a straight run, but all the clones were right there in front of him. Even if he were stronger than they were, he was lighter than even one of them, and all they'd have to do would be to make themselves a wall--Then he suddenly shot up, hitting the ceiling just before the lights. Like a pinball he bounced off that, hit the tile again to duck under the extended paint roller, then up along the section of wall that wasn't being painted to get around the ladder under the lights. Back to the ceiling over the napper, then down like a lightning bolt on the top of the card table--then, straight as a gunshot, the cards still flipping through the air around him, he was through the door and into the hallways beyond. It was roughly a hundred meters, and it had taken Kenichi all of about three seconds. "Ha!" he yelled as he stood upright, bouncing on the balls of his feet to bleed off the extra momentum. He waved at Isshin-sensei with a smirk. "Got that idea from an old Gran Torino vid!" He took off at a run--this time only slightly faster than an average human--and soon reached his classroom. As he entered--slamming the door open perhaps a bit too loudly, his eyes had that "hell yeah" look, and he proudly exhaled through his nose...although it had enough force behind it to cause his clothes and hair to ruffle like some kind of dramatic movie.
