Because the single reason Bonesword wasn't rewarded in any way up to now is because he never achieved anything and actively run away from a battle. Just compare it to Eos' treatment of the Twins and Krieg. She rewards them when they achieve something, but punishes them when they fail, that's an incentive to get better. It's basic management skills. Blindly trusting proven betrayers isn't.
