Heine, a veteran of the Western War, served on the Barval Royal Guard, a small, elite force charged with protecting the royal family. It was quite common for war heroes to be offered a position on the Royal Guard, not only due to their skill, but also to promote patriotism in the country. As the son of a Royal Guard, Felix lacked nothing for the Royal Guards and their families were treated like nobility, regardless of their background. Growing up, Felix had a busy childhood. His father expected Felix to follow in his footsteps, but also wanted him to be a worldly, well-learned young man and hired various tutors and trainers. Thus, his childhood was a blur of classes on philosophy, history, and politics, mixed with daily sessions of physical training. Under such a strict training regime, it was no surprise that he was accepted to Hylo's elite pilot academy at a young age of 14. As the Great War of Orio had been in full swing for almost five years when Felix entered the academy, he found that all of the training was primarily focused combat. Due to mounting losses on the front lines, Felix graduated in three years, rather than the usual six year, passing with reservations. As one instructor, who was judging his final examination, wrote, "Felix is a brilliant young man with a knack for piloting, but his recklessness concerns me. Were this a true military exercise, his actions would've certainly led to his death and most likely the death of his squad. Usually, I would recommend against letting him pass as I have no doubt that, given two years more, he will be one of the finest pilots of our generation. However, considering the current circumstances, I cannot deny his passing, especially if my colleagues are of the same mind. Hopefully, time on the field will teach him what we cannot here. (Pass with reservation)" Upon his graduation, Felix was sent to serve in the 6th Armored Division, which had taken massive losses in the Battle of Northbury. For the several years, Felix fought in the 8th Battalion, pushing back the Northern forces. While the horror of the battlefield reined in Felix's recklessness somewhat, his actions were still considered dangerous by his superiors and each promotion was fiercely debated. Still, after serving on the front lines for six years, Felix had been promoted to the position of Captain given leadership of Company H. Unsurprisingly, due to his leadership, his company was seen as a group of recklessly patriotic soldiers and were given the most dangerous front line missions. On February 17, 2031, the 8th Battalion pushed into the Northern Frontier with the intent to establish a foothold. Unfortunately, the advancing soldiers were caught by surprise by a blizzard and separated. Company H found a small mountain cave and they quickly worked to expand it to create temporary shelter. The cave also became their defensive line as they were discovered by Northern scouts. Though outnumbered, the terrain of the mountain made it difficult for even the Northern forces to mount an effective assault, and they resorted to sieging the company. After a few days of waiting, it was clear that the rest of the battalion had suffered a similar fate and were in no condition to rescue them. As supplies were running low, Felix made the decision to break through the encirclement. The Northern forces, expecting a surrender, were surprised the suicidal charge, though they were quick to recover. The soldiers of Company J sustained heavy losses as they fought their way through the Northern forces, but in the end, over nearly forty pilots broke through and escaped. One year later, the Great War of Orio officially ended as the nations agreed to a ceasefire, though no one was happy with the result. Felix was recognized as a hero for his actions in the Northern Offensive and was offered a position on the Royal Guard. Felix refused, stating, "I am a soldier at heart. I cannot leave my men to fight while I retire." Queen Elizabet, paranoid after her husband's death, which she believed to be an assassination, suspected Felix of treason and ordered him to be arrested. One of the men who had fought in the Northern Offensive with Felix caught wind of this and suspecting that his commander had been framed, he told Felix what he had heard. Felix fled the empire for the Freelands, where he worked as a bounty hunter. Tactical Preference & Skills: Felix is an skilled pilot, capable of precise maneuvers in his mech. In contrast to his precision in movement, there is nothing precise about his style of combat. Everything in his standard loadout is geared towards bringing as much firepower as possible to a battle and flooding the area with bullets. To mitigate his weapons' low effective range, Felix relies on his mech's stealth system to get into position. Despite his behavior, Felix is well versed in military tactics, and will not blindly rush into unwinnable situations. He also understands the power of a well timed sabotage mission, and though he detests doing so, he engage in one if no other options are available. He is also a capable commander, having lead a company for nearly two years. While Felix usually maintains multiple weapons to serve in multiple roles, a habit from his early days in the war when soldiers were scarce on the Northern front, he has been forced to leave most of them behind when he fled Hylo. While sound in theory, ultimately, the durability of the RAS line of mechs proved to be more popular. Combined with the catastrophic marketing failure of the Wind Dancer, the funding for the MCV line was eventually dropped. Unlike its predecessor, the MCV Mk II "Nighthawk", a generally well-regarded model providing a solid balance of armor and firepower, the Wind Dancer was seen as a flying death trap. This reputation was not unwarranted, for the designers had sacrificed nearly all defensive capabilities in order to maximize firepower. Instead the mech relied on the then bleeding edge thermo-optical camouflage as well as its maneuverability as its primary defensive mechanism. As early models of thermo-optical camouflage were prone to "flicker" and sometimes gave out unexpectedly, it's unsurprising that the mech was quickly sidelined in favor for the reliable RAS-30. Recently, the MCV line of mechs have experienced a resurgence of popularity. While the fundamental design of the MCV Mk III has not changed, the improved design of its parts, particularly the thermo-optical camouflage system, as well as the addition of the redesigned particle barrier, has made flying this mech slightly less dangerous. Still, it is far more common to see the older Nighthawk or Thunderbird used on the battlefield.

Specific Overview

Light/Heavy Body: 1
It has jokingly been said that the mech's nickname referred to how early prototypes would get blown away in a strong gust, thus appearing to "dance" in the wind. While this is almost certainly a myth, it is true that the Wind Dancer is the lightest mech in operation, with most of the weight coming from the weapon systems instead of armor like most mechs.
Accuracy & Tracking/Firepower: 9
True to its design, the Wind Dancer sacrifices everything, including accuracy, for raw firepower. This isn't too much of an issue at close range, though it means that at medium ranges, the Wind Dancer can do little more than provide suppressive fire.
Air Mobility/Thrusters: 1
Perhaps the most innovative part of the Wind Dancer are the MCEX-2, custom thrusters designed to run on significantly less energy than usual. These thrusters allow the Wind Dancer to power its energy barrier on a standard fusion core. While the MCEX-2 produces less force than most thrusters, it makes up for it in precision, and is limited only by the pilot's skill.
Solo/Skirmisher: 2
While the Wind Dancer was designed to perform well in a variety of situations, its short effective engagement range makes it significantly better at fighting solo, mainly because few other mechs are capable of supporting it at such close ranges. While the Wind Dancer can fight from medium range, it sacrifices much of its firepower and is rarely optimal.

Equipment & Armaments

Primary Weapon:

FTT-12 Flak Cannon The FTT-12 is the Wind Dancer's standard primary weapon, designed to tear through even the toughest armor in a hail of scrap metal. The weapon's high spread makes it ineffective at anything beyond close range.
(Unavailable) HPR-33 Assault Rifle The HPR-33 straddles the line between assault and sniper rifle, featuring high powered bullets and a burst fire mode. While it lacks the magazine capacity of a true assault rifle and requires two hands to handle effectively, its offers accuracy and versatility. The HPR-33 is rarely used as the flak cannon offers much more firepower. However, it is useful when, for whatever reason, the Wind Dancer needs to engage the enemy at medium range.
(Unavailable)Yama Silenced Pistols When something more discreet is required, the weapons of choice are the Yamas due to their deadly firepower and near silent operation. In addition, these pistols are much lighter than either than flak cannon or the assault rifle and helps slightly improve the Wind Dancer's poor air speed. These are usually taken on stealth missions, as the goal is to avoid discovery rather than tear through enemy defences.
Secondary Weapon:

EMP Grenades While not a particularly flashy choice of weaponry, EMP grenades are incredibly useful in many situations. These grenades are usually used offensively to incapacitate a group of enemies before engaging them in combat or defensively to buy time to secure a retreat.
Shoulder/Back Spot

SHF-61A Vulcan Though wildly inaccurate, the SHF-61A makes up for it in sheer volume of bullets. Boasting a dual linkless feed system, the SHF-61A can achieve a firing rate of 8000 rpm without jamming. However, the drawback of using such a feed system are that it takes much longer to reload than normal and the high maintenance requirements of the weapon.
(Unavailable) XLG-55 Mortar When engaging the enemy at close range is not an option, the XLG-55 allows the Wind Dancer to provide long-distance support via artillery rounds. The mortar is usually only used in large-scale warfare to attack enemy support units as the risk of friendly fire is too great for other uses.
Gadget Slot:

Thermo-optical Camouflage On the surface of the mech, there a large number of nanobots capable of matching their color and temperature to their ambient surroundings, allowing the mech to functionally become "invisible" in the optical and infrared spectrum while still. When moving, a careful observer might be able to observe a blur, especially against a non-uniform background. The thermo-optical camouflage can be rendered if something is coating the mech.
Particle Barrier Originally designed for the previous generation behemoths to improve their survivability on the front line, the particle barrier technology is rarely used on modern mechs due to its massive energy consumption. The Wind Dancer uses a highly modified version of the technology designed to run on a standard fusion core. Unlike the original particle barriers which could absorb massive amounts of damage, the modified version goes down after a dozen hits. Still, any source of damage negation is useful for the lightly armored mech.
