I'm pretty sure I'm done here, I'm pretty darn tired as I write this so who knows. Life was quiet and uneventful, families mostly working on small time farms and selling what they didn't subsist on in the town proper. However with most quiet beginnings Toulouse's world was rocked when the Western War broke out, the now eight year old boy's father leaving home to join the front while leaving the farm to his wife and child. In the coming years of the war food and money became scarce as much of the able bodied men and women joined the fighting, Amaranto becoming a land of children and elderlies. However in spite of the hardships these factors brang the community couldn't have been more together, everyone sharing what they could when they could and eventually the war ended and things returned to normal. While some of those who left never returned, most did and Toulouse's father was among them. On the day of his father's return, Toulouse vowed to become a soldier and defend the people of Therux just like his father. His father never really approved, laughing it off when Toulouse was a boy but becoming more worried as the boy grew into a man. Eventually it came to a peak, Toulouse filled with national pride and youthful invincibility and his father who knew of the true horrors that war brought. However when it became clear to his father that Toulouse would never budge from his path he gave ground, instead telling the young man about what war was like without the patriotic filter. Toulouse wavered for just a moment but held strong in his convictions and eventually his father gave up and through some string pulling from some friends still in the military was able to send Toulouse to the military academy on scholarship. Tempered by his father's stories and his desire to protect, Toulouse excelled in the academies mech simulations and quickly found himself pushed into that field by his teachers. It wasn't long until he found his calling inside the hull of a Bulwark and through graduation. Toulouse was then placed into the 207th Mechanized Infantry as fire support, while what would be known as the Orio War began. For a nearly a decade and a half he was dragged to conflict after conflict, almost always on the defensive as the Northern Territories threw their soldiers into the wall of his weapons fire. Toulouse was about ready to call it quits when he was mobilized to the burnt out husk of his hometown, a once beautiful and peaceful place now reduced to ruins. There were no recorded survivors. Toulouse was absolutely devastated, every pile of rubble was a home with a family, each of their names etched into his memory. He was well into shock when he saw his own home, a burnt out ruin with only the foundations betraying the location of a house ever being there. Toulouse didn't cry for a long time, he was a soldier and enemy units were moving through Amaranto tomorrow. There would be time for tears later. That day was the only known use of a BWP-52 in close quarters combat as Toulouse broke ranks and charged into the mobilizing lines of the Frontier mechs. The surprise was enough to shatter four mechs before shock wore off, weapons returning fire at the charging castle. While the ambush was ruined it ultimatly turned out for the better, Toulouse's comrades pushing the attack as Toulouse kicked and thrashed like a wild dog. Reaper cannons fireing into the cores of Frontier mechs as titanic feet crushed the life out of their pilots. Toulouse alone was responsible for 14 confirmed kills before his Bulwark was critically damaged. To this day those who were apart of the "Battle of Amaranto" will tell you of the man in the Bulwark, screaming name after name through the vox channels. Toulouse himself left the battle with two broken ribs, three bruised ribs, a punctured lung, various contusions, a mild concussion, a shattered femur, catastrophic internal hemorrhaging, a purple heart, and a medal of valor. The only thing that saved him after the fact was an experimental cybernetic suit that now holds him together even to this day. Toulouse himself remembers very little of the fight itself but ever since then he's been catalogued as a war hero, something he resents immeasurably. For the next six years Toulouse served the state faithfully, always the good little soldier, and eventually the war ended. When it came time to rebuild however Toulouse found nothing but a bitter taste in his mouth, having only blood and ash to show for their efforts. After three years of this growing unease Toulouse was able to pull some strings with some friends in high places, allowing him to take his mech outside of the State and into the Freelands ostensibly as an informant of the going ons of the area. Tactical Preference & Skills: The Bulwark was used most often as defenders and fire support, entrenching down somewhere defendable and drowning targets in a tsunami of weapons fire. However caution to those who engage in close quarters combat for the legs of a scarab are incredibly strong and much swifter than one would think, knocking aside smaller mechs and crushing them into dust. These "Reaper Rounds" were made to punch into and explode within enemy mechs but it wasn't unheard of for them to slip right through weaker mechs. The recoil from these guns is massive and requires the user to entrench for accurate firing. Sub Weapon Slot: ATK-44 Fusion Blasters - Smaller than the ones attached to Paladins, these fusion blasters work on the same principle as it's larger cousin. Short range but devastating against enemy armor and any poor schmuck caught in it's sights. Shoulder/Back Spot: Fly Swatter Protocols - Look to Gadget Slots. Gadget Slot: Advanced Targeting Systems - These systems allow Toulouse to see most mechs and hit them with pinpoint accuracy. Fly Swatter Protocols - Instead of another weapons system on the top of the Bulwark there has been installed an anti-missile defense system. Using an array of lasers to "swat" these missiles out of the air it is difficult to land a hit without swarm type missiles. Though not their intended purpose the lasers can deal minor structural damage to a lightly armored mech. While they aren't as renowned as their Paladin and Chevalier counterparts, the Bulwark has nonetheless been instrumental in the defense of many battles during the war and has endeared themselves to the public in smaller fashions.
