Metropolis – 18:30 PM EST "Smile and wave, Patroller. Smile and wave." said Polarity Man to his two selves as he greeted the citizens of Metropolis, though neither the lieutenant’s nor the mech suit’s facial expressions could visibly change. Being celebrated as a new hero in the ranks of the Justice League was the last thing he expected after nearly dying in a jet crash. Yet, the cheering crowd gathered around League’s headquarters and the multiple news station coverage he was streaming to his visual HUD assured him that all of this was real. As with most people in front of a public forum, Lawrence was quite nervous as the ceremony transpired. While the likes of Superman and Green Lantern were adored by the media reporters, the obscure new recruits were met with lofty expectations and even unwarranted suspicion. After all, where were they during the last crisis? Specially “the new Batman robot” as one anchorman described the Patroller suit. They weren’t wrong, Lawrence supposed. "If only my jet crashed earlier, huh?" he said to himself with a chuckle. After the ceremonies, Polarity Man was one of the last to enter the tower as he took the few extra moments to appreciate the crowd that gathered to cheer on the new recruits, even doing a quick fly-by above the gathered masses to entertain the children and the child-like. “Thank you and goodnight, Metropolis!” the lieutenant would say through the mech’s voice encoder before entering through the Metro Tower’s doors. The interior of the headquarters was grand yet somehow welcoming, in spirit of the actual League itself. Before he could get acquainted with everyone else, others were already deploying on missions. Lawrence was one of the lucky few that had the night off, so he decided to familiarize himself with his designated room. Inside, he was surprised to find a diagnostic work station that was compatible with the Patroller’s hardware. "I guess Superman had some spare Kryptonian tech lying around." he said out loud as he proceeded to run maintenance checks. Aside from random yelling from a distant room in the tower’s living quarters that he could tune out with music, Polarity Man’s night was spent in relative peace. Hopefully tomorrow would bring him a chance at proving his mettle. The Following Day - Nebraska Airspace – 13:25 PM MST While it was on short notice, a mission to Nebraska didn’t sound that bad. In fact, the flight time from Metropolis was just enough for him to google blog posts and fan sites about the Justice League so that he could see what the world wide web thought of him and the others. Unfortunately, aside from a few pages he wishes he could erase from his mind (and will later erase from the Patroller’s memory banks), Polarity Man couldn’t find anything mentioning him before getting sucker punched by the alien they were sent to confront. Neligh, Nebraska – 13:30 PM MST Just moments before impact, the lieutenant had veered away from the residential area he was on course to crash in and instead ended up just outside a flour mill, where a crowd soon formed around him. "Argh. Guess we can chalk up crash survival as one of my fortes… Patroller, damage report." A diagram of the suit soon appeared on his HUD, with the left shoulder highlighted in yellow. He assumed this meant he was still ready to go since no other error messages popped up, so the lieutenant primed the engines back on immediately after. However, gasps could be heard and worried looks could be seen from the civilians that had gathered around him. Lowering his jets to a hum, Polarity Man got on his encoder to calm those around him. "Citizens, please stay inside your homes. The Justice League is currently operating in the area, and we would love to have your cooperation in ensuring your safety." As soon as the crowd cleared out, Polarity Man was racing his way back to the fight. On his way back to the location he got surprise attacked, The Bulleteer had suddenly appeared next to him. "On three?" Bulleteer asked the mech suit at his right. Without any reservations, the lieutenant nodded inside the suit. "Count it down, bullet man." responded Lieutenant Trainor using the suit's voice encoder. "THREE!" said the Bulleteer as he accelerated past Polarity Man. "W-wait. What?!" Polarity Man increased his jet output to top speed but simply could not keep up with the faster and lighter hero. As he approached closer to the target, Solara had proceeded to preempt the duo and attacked the alien’s crown jewels before Bulleteer sent him down the earth below with a supersonic collision. Following up on the improvised combination attack, the lieutenant shifted all the power from the jets to his blaster, releasing a concentrated stream of electricity aimed at their hostile space man.
