K E N I C H I

Training Ground Echo

[@Experiment 249]Kenichi found himself lifted into the air by a tall redhead who introduced himself as Lysander, as the rest of the class responded more or less favorably to his speech. There were a couple who looked like the serious types, who had probably just labeled him as a case of chuunibyou or something, but that was fine--the speech hadn't been meant for them, after all. "Hell yeah! This guy gets it!" Kenichi said, thumbing his nose like Bruce Lee. [@Feyblue]Then, the girl with long blonde hair and glasses mimicked the two boys--in an oddly frame-perfect way--and let out her own war cry. Maybe it was her voice, or how robotic her action was, or just the more subdued nature compared to Kenichi and Lysander's complete gung-ho, but everyone kind of stared awkwardly at her. Kenichi, however, jumped down off Lysander's shoulders and gave her a big thumbs up and smile. "Yeah, you get it too, don'tcha!" Don't worry about other people, went the unspoken gesture. You do you. The guy with six wings added his own bit, though it had less of an anime feel and more of...Shakespeare? He then proceeded to spread his wings and hold his hands up. Was this what the people on the internet called Praising the Sun? Kenichi grinned at him too, though. [@Aerandir]A blonde guy, on the other hand, said that Kenichi didn't strike him as a "main character." More like a loud supporter...or comic relief. The guy grinned in that way provocative people grinned. Kenichi met it with his own challenging smile, showing off his canines as he slammed one fist into his other palm. "Good! Every main character needs somebody to look down on 'em, too! Just be careful you're not the guy who gets blown away in the first chapter!" [@Rex]Another redhead, the guy who had come into the classroom with a bag of metal tools, pointed out that sometimes the Main Character Seat was a fakeout, or that shows would reveal a real protagonist later. Kenichi crossed his arms and nodded his head knowingly. "Sure, the bait and switch! We have enough standout hair colors in this class for that to be the case--but now I've made an inspiring speech that lifts the rest of my nakama up! That's two points I have for protagonism!" He pumped his fist triumphantly. Yoshida-sensei arrived, along with a new student who seemed to be a fill-in from the General Studies department. So that meant whatever they were doing required even teams? Sure enough, L Guardian explained that they'd be playing a territory domination game--capture two of the three points and hold them, or disable the enemy team. Everyone was paying attention to the teacher now, instead of him, but Kenichi's big smiles and shining personality were suddenly replaced by a look of consternation. He had just told everyone that they would pass, but now they were going to compete against one another after all. Would the losing team be expelled? Surely Yoshida-sensei wasn't planning to cut the class in half on the first day, it wouldn't make any sense. The blue haired boy looked down at his fist. Only one option, then: He had to make his team win, and make the other team stand out at the same time. He was on Delta Squad, which according to the projector screens included Acion (six wings), Seth (the second redhead), Mamoru (the pink hair with the shield and glasses), Donny (the fat guy), Toni (the other blonde, Lysander had talked to her before), Ezra (holy shit that guy was tall for a teenager), and the Gen. kid, Roy. Unfortunately, Sen, Lysander, and the mimicry girl were on the other team. Fortunately, the snarky guy called Jett was also on the other team. The others on Alpha Squad were all unfamiliar to Kenichi, since he had only seen them and hadn't really interacted with them yet.
As the two teams took their starting position, Mamoru took the lead on Delta and began a strategy session. Kenichi started doing more warm-up exercises. [@Lucius Cypher]"Area C's no good for me, all the loose dirt would mess with my breathing. If I absolutely have to, I can either limit my intake or hold my breath, but that either makes me weaker or has a 5 minute limit, considering I'd be doing lots of activity." He said when she brought up starting at that one. Donny said he could take B by himself...but he didn't seem the most confident. "No offense, Don-kun, but you're gonna have to give us more to go on than that." Kenichi said. Seth pointed out they needed to know each other's Quirks, and explained his own. Kenichi nodded and did the same. "Mine's Hyper Ventilation. My super breath can kinda sorta move things around, but its real use is to oxygenate my blood and muscles. On our ranking system, my Power and Speed are both B class and I'm highly mobile." Which reminded him. "You guys should know about as many of the other team as possible, too. The kid with the gas mask, Kimoto Sen, he can breathe a paralytic cloud. He's a real bad match-up for me, but anyone who can hold their breath or resist that kind of thing can probably beat him if they get close." Acion didn't explain his quirk, but it was fairly obvious. He offered to transport someone to C, and said that'd be the best place for him. Kenichi would have thought A would be a good fit too, but maybe he thought the other team would climb the cranes to get at him. "I'm not real good at battlefield strategy, just hand-to-hand stuff." Kenichi said to the others as he finished warming up and started taking faster breaths to get his blood pumping. He wasn't in full on vacuum mode just yet, but the pressurized air made a slight whistling sound. "Unless you guys just insist on me playing some kinda role, I think...No, I definitely have to go for direct engagement. You guys split up however you see fit, but I'm gonna patrol the whole field and take on everyone I find. I'll start with A, if that helps anything." The way he worded that might have struck some of the others as odd. He wasn't going for direct engagement because he thought it was the best option, or because he thought it would help their strategy. He was going to try and fight the entire other team on his own because he felt like he had to. Flashy battles are the best way for a newly introduced character to show off. If they do well against the protagonist, that hypes them up even more. We're ALL gonna pass this. Kenichi narrowed his eyes, and lowered himself to the three-point start.
