However, the importance of his title usually trumps all nicknames now.
| Age |
Twenty-nine
| Gender |
Male
| Sexuality |
Bisexual
| Kingdom |
Abhainn
| Alliance |
His loyalty is to the Kingdom of Abhainn and, more importantly, himself.
| In Depth Appearance |
Maddox has an appearance that, at the very least, can be described as quite average. He stands around six feet, one inch and weighs something like one hundred and seventy pounds. He is well-built, toned from years of swordplay and hunting. He has light hair, kept short, and dazzling blue eyes that crinkle whenever he smiles. Maddox often keeps his chin and cheeks slightly stubbled, and he has been known to let a slight beard grow on his chin and along his jawline. He has very few scars, having never seen a real battle, but he does bear a light scar along his left cheek from a blade that went astray. As his role requires, he dresses well in dark shades of reds and purples, colors that symbolize royalty.
| Habits |
Taps Feet || As a notoriously restless man, Maddox often taps his foot or bounces his leg as a means of subconsciously conveying his boredom to those assembled. Deep Thought || Maddox is known for his intense expressions of thought including furrowing his brow, chewing on the inside of his cheek, and running his hand along his chin.
| Hobbies |
Sparring || He is often found sparring in the courtyard to improve his swordsmanship, though he is often to easily frustrated to be much good. Riding || When swordplay grows tedious, he will escape the castle to ride through the forests or hunt. Games of Strategy || If the weather is poor, he can often be found playing out hypothetical battles on his war table.
| Likes |
Adventure || Maddox likes to be out and about, always looking to do something new and push himself. Knowledge || Though he often has little time for sitting about and reading, Maddox does love to know as much as he can, increasing his repertoire. Dogs || He has loved his hounds since childhood and often takes them out when he rides, believing them to be more loyal than any man or woman. Power || Maddox craves power, and when he has it, he clings on to it desperately, afraid it may be taken from him at any moment. Ale & Wine || Though not yet a drunkard, Maddox is certainly on his way towards such a fate given the amount of alcohol he consumes. In recent years, having taken the throne, he has begun to limit his consumption so that he may rule more effectively. Music || One of his lesser known passions is music, though he has never been much good at performing. However, he does love to listen to it especially to unwind.
| Dislikes |
Being Wrong || Nothing spoils Maddox's day like being shown he is incorrect. Boredom || He grows restless when he has no outlet for his energy, and it often fouls his mood. Arrogance || Though it is quite hypocritical of him to say, Maddox detests those who think of themselves as better than others. Defeat || He detests any instance in which he comes out the "loser". He quickly grows angry afterwards, acting rashly in response. Having His Choices Made for Him || He still retains distaste for his father for arranging his marriage and ending the war. Spoiled as he is, he hates when he has no say in important matters. Insubordination || Disrespect is guaranteed to cause Maddox's blood to boil, as he feels his rank entitles him to unquestioned loyalty from his subjects.
| Fears |
Death || Maddox's greatest fear is death. He hopes to prove himself as a capable leader, but he worries that an early death in anything but battle will cause him to go down in history as a weak king. Cats || He has a very intense fear of cats, for his mother had one than often lashed out at him as a boy. Open Water || Having never learned to swim, Maddox fears lakes and oceans and the fact that he could drown.
| Personality |
Maddox is a man who has grown up wanting very little in his entire life except the approval of his mother and father. He comes off as spoiled and bratty, which certainly isn't wrong. He often acts will little regard for the consequences of his actions, even though if he thought his choice through more carefully, he certainly would be more capable of better decisions. Maddox is quick to anger, and he releases his anger verbally with hardly any filter. It is a shame, for Maddox certainly would have an intelligence to rival any opponent if only he were to tame his anger. He is also quite immature, which does not help his thought process. Maddox views war as nothing more than a large game with high stakes. He is a risk taker through and through. Still, Maddox is well-spoken from years of being tutored to take over Abhainn. He knows much in the ways of the history of the two kingdoms. He craves a challenge in every day life, though he certainly still grows frustrated with any opponent, animate or not, that he can not overcome. His ambition is startling, for when he is knocked down, he comes back stronger and more determined than before.
| Background |
Scandal has followed Maddox as long as he has known life. He was born to King Frederick the Sixth by a mistress, though attempts were made to pass the boy off as the Queen's true born son. These lies lasted very briefly, for it was quite common knowledge that Frederick's wife was infertile, unable to provide him the heir he needed to continue the line of royalty in Abhainn. While his "mother" never grew to accept the bastard child, Maddox received Frederick's full attention. As such, he was spoiled despite his father's efforts to instill leadership and wisdom in the boy. As Maddox grew up in a war-ravaged country, he became fascinated with the conflict. Often, returning knights would find him running after their horses, begging for a report of the situation. His father urged the boy to focus his passion into his studies, and though Maddox was reluctant at first, he eventually grew to love studying history, the tales of soldiers and their kings who fought valiantly for Abhainn. Maddox was in his teens when his father announced the plans for the treaty that would end the war and unite the kingdoms through marriage. The boy shut down, growing distant and gloomy as his past time was snatched out from under him. Maddox channeled his frustration into drinking and sleeping around. Perhaps his apathy was what drove Frederick to the grave when Maddox was twenty-four. He was coronated shortly after, ascending to his father's throne as he had been expected to do since infancy. In recent years, he has certainly grown more lively and interested in his studies, perhaps preparing himself for something greater.
| Extra |
I love anything science-fiction/future related (especially if there's a good dystopian aspect!)
