Prologue: The Twilight Trio
'I love you, you understand. That's why I do this - for you. Can you not see that? ... no matter. You will understand, in time.' Year 7,432 of the 3rd Era 3rd Month, 12th Day On the western coast sits the castle of Vraweth, where Queen Meliadoul directs the effort to aid Zidel and Illisk with her famous Knight Commanders, though Commander Odessa stays with her at the castle. While it boasts a beautiful garden, strong walls, and everything they need, on the nearby cliff that overlooks the sea is a unique location. The tomb of Excalibur and it's wielder. Only recently rediscovered through ancient texts and tomes, Queen Meliadoul has declared it important enough of an event to place a royal guard at it's entrance, to be sure that grave robbers do not disturb it. Her majesty has even decreed it a grave crime to open such a holy site in such dark times as the Shattering. No one goes in or out of it and there is only way in, which makes most of it intact. Inside it's damp and dark, a single drip echoing across it's walls. It's built like a dome with a single stone casket in the middle, to which a picture of Excalibur is etched into it with the words, 'rest easy my beautiful Queen of Knights.' It's nearly empty however and only the casket is lifted up high on a platform. Dusted has settled all over from the ages past of it being undisturbed. A few foot prints here and there from a week ago, but otherwise is still and quiet. Suddenly a cough is heard from inside the casket. Then more coughs and muttering. Then silence before the crackling of stone against stone moving as the top of the resting place is forced to the side.
Morgan pushes the stone slab to the side, enough that she can crawl out, though it balances itself. Rubbing her eyes and trying to adjust them to the dark, she coughs once more, feeling dust enter her lungs. 'What in Vis' name?' she thinks to herself, sitting up as she tries to get a look around. The last thing she remembered was.. light.. and warmth.. and vague images of waterfalls everywhere. Before that though - Her eyes widened as she pushed herself up from the rotting bed material. She remembered dying! She remembered laying in Nimue's lap as life slowly drained from her. "What in Arlina happened?" she asked herself softly, looking down at her clothes. They were strange, nothing she wore before, and yet familiar. 'That's right,' she thought as she recognized the outfit. She was in Avalon after she died, though any memories were fuzzy at best. "But why.. am I back?" Crawling from the stone box, she started to make her way to the door, that maybe she would find some answers. Though she already had some - there was an image of a city planted in her mind. A calling to go there for some reason and she couldn't put her finger on it, but she held the knowledge to make it there. That of course meant, she must've been dead for quite a while. Pulling on a chain, the ancient door that held her prisoner slide sideways, revealing the morning sun. She shielded her eyes for but a moment before her eyes focused on the image of a spear's point in her face. "Halt! By her majesty's decree, you are trespassing on holy ground!" Morgan could only blink a couple more times, unsure of what to say to such a strange phrasing. "You are to follow me to face judgement!" Suddenly, the man grabbed her wrist and yanked her out of the tomb, only to shut it back them. Again, he poked her side with the spear's point - though it didn't even feel uncomfortable. Morgan just groaned softly as she let the man lead her, her eyes taking in the new beauty of what was once Camelot, and the castle that was not there before. Not long after, she found herself being lead through the front gates of the castle proper and into the throne room. The guard passed her off to one of the others, whispering what she assumed to be her apparent crime, and likely heading off to guard the 'holy site' once more. Two guards stood by her while a messenger was sent away, both of them staring her down like she was nothing but a strange rogue. She was patient however and simply folded her hands, taking in the sight of it all. "Bring her forth!" called a powerful voice from the other end of the room. The guards prodded her as to get her to hurry to stand in front of the throne. The figure that stood before it was a powerful figure of a woman who glared Morgan down. "You!" she demanded as she guards stood behind Morgan, pushing her forward. The knight could only glanced back before looking the queen straight in the eyes. "Explain yourself! How dare you ignore my word. Who are you to deny such sacred grounds?" The queen seemed to stare at her impatiently for a few moments before Morgan finally stood tall and exhaled slowly. "I am the Queen of Knights and wielder of Excalibur, Morgan Oaks. Pray tell, who are you?" This only seemed to make the queen even more angry as one of the guards laughed at the outlandish claim. "I doubt that, rogue," she spat in a huff. "If so, then summon your blade, knight." Her voice was poisoned with a sharp annoyance, but Morgan was none-the-less calm and collected despite the strong aura this queen gave off. Glancing behind her at the guard, she could see the utter disbelief in everyone's eyes to which she merely dismissed for the moment. Holding out her palm, she mentally called out to the legendary sword - an artifact that she had been intertwined with since that day on the lake. There was a bright flash, but within a mere blink, sat the blade on her grasp shining with it's blue brilliance. She could hear some of the guards gasp, the queen herself widening her eyes in absolute awe. Everyone was silent at the display. It was broken though as the doors to the throne room opened once more, a guard pushing in another blonde woman, seeming just as offended as the one who brought Morgan in. "Your majesty!" he yelled out, snapping everyone's attention to him, including Morgan. "I found this woman defiling the holy cherry tree!" The queen didn't seem as quick to snap to anger, but instead glanced between Morgan and Nimue in bewilderment. However the legendary knight pushed one of the guards out of the way and stepped forward a few paces. "N-Nimue?.." Excalibur seemed to disappear in a mist as she started to walk towards the wizard, then ran, before she was right in front of the fey-blood. The guard holding her arm let go, not sure if he truly just saw Excalibur or not. "Nimue! By Vis I'm glad to see you!" Without letting the wizard respond, she pulled Nimue into an embrace and let out a sigh, as if she finally found some comfort in this strange place. However she pulled away and stared into the woman's eyes. "But.. wait.. why are you here too?" she asked. The entire court was speechless.
Just to be clear, everyone that's been revived will wake up with an image of the city seen in the prologue image. It's Bervenia. Everyone also, mysteriously, has knowledge of how to get there. People can arrive whenever they please, but we'll wait for the story to move forward once everyone reaches the city!
