They rule from the Bite to the north, to the Bay of Crabs to the south with the imposing Mountains of the Moon their natural to the rest of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. For many generations, after their arrival, they were called Kings of the Mountain and the Vale. In the Mountains of the Moon, the ancient House would build its great castle, the Eyrie. A nigh impregnable fortress nestled high upon the Giant's Lance; the greatest peak amongst the Mountains of the Moon. From here they would reign over the Vale of Arryn until the arrival of Aegon the Conqueror and his dragons. The Queen Regent Sharra Arryn, ruling in the stead of her son the boy King Ronnel Arryn, would bend the knee to Visenya Targaryen. The Targaryen Queen had flown into the Eyrie's Courtyard upon her dragon, and Sharra would arrive in the Eyrie's throne room to the sight of young Ronnel in Visenya's lap, asking if he could ride upon the Queens dragon with her. Ever since the Arryns have been the Targaryens loyal Bannermen, loath to dishonor themselves by betraying their King. As their House words suggest, the family of Valemen is steeped in Honor, holding no virtue higher and driving themselves to seek honor in all things.
[sub][ ⚔ ] M I L I T A R Y S T R E N G T H[/sub]

The Valemen are famous for their many skilled Knights. House Arryn boasts at great lengths of the honor and skill of the Knights of the Vale proclaiming them the best of all the Seven Kingdoms. The tradition of Knighthood is deeply ingrained in the Vale of Arryn, being able to put forth perhaps the largest number of heavily armed and armored riders in the Seven Kingdoms, though they lack somewhat more in footmen because of it. When united the Vale can raise about 45,000 men with a large number of mounted knights when compared to the armies of the other Kingdoms. Of course, with the mountainous nature of the Vale and the danger in travel means gathering their full strength can take some time. As the Vale was kept unscathed by the spring sickness they are in a strong position so far as numbers are concerned. After the first Blackfyre rebellion, the Sistermen of House Sunderland have been under a close watch, with their daughter married to the Lord of the Vale in order to ensure their men would remain beneath the Lord Paramount's control.
[sub][ ⚔ ] M E M B E R S[/sub]

Donnel Arryn - Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale and Warden of the East - Born 163 AC Cissy Arryn 'nee Sunderland - Lady Arryn, the second wife of Lord Donnel - Born 172 AC Jasper Arryn - the half brother of Donnel Arryn, legitimized bastard - Born 166 AC Jeyne Arryn - eldest daughter of Lord Donnel - Born 185 AC Alys Arryn - second eldest daughter of Lord Donnel - Born 190 AC Rowena II Arryn - third Eldest daughter of Lord Donnel - Born 196 AC Denys Arryn - First and only son of Lord Donnel - Born 202 AC
[sub][ ⚔ ] R E C E N T H I S T O R Y[/sub]

At the outset of the First Blackfyre rebellion it was uncertain if the Lords of the Vale would ride for either side. Donnel certainly supported the Targaryens as honor called for but was loathe to raise his levies for what he saw as a Crownlands war. It was not until the Sistermen launched a daring attack on House Arryn of Gulltown, burning and stealing many of the Arryns ships and declaring for Daemon I Blackfyre that Donnel acted. Swiftly he rose his banners and deftly smashed the army of the Isle of the Three Sisters. With the threat in the Vale pacified, Donnel rode his men south to help put an end to this foolish rebellion once and for all. Unbeknownst to the Lord of the Vale, his half brother Jasper had led his own men out of the Vale some time ago and joined up with the Blackfyres in an underhanded attempt to replace his brother should the Blackfyres win. When he learned of his half brother and Lord of the Vale would be joining the war he panicked and abandoned Daemon, fearing Donnel had joined because he had discovered Jaspers intent. He rode to meet his brother's force to apologize and throw himself upon his mercy only to discover Donnel had no idea of his plans and welcomed him with open arms. Jasper did not correct his half brother's assumption that he and his men had ridden out to join in fighting for House Targaryen. At the Battle of the Redgrass field, Lord Donnel was given the honor of leading the van in its charge against Daemon I Blackfyre. Greatly underestimating Daemon and his forces, Donnel was completely taken aback by the Black Dragons skill and ferocity. The van was quickly decimated and Donnel came face to face with the rebel leader who unhorsed the Lord of the Vale easily. Donnel fully expected to die, were it not for the reinforcements brought by Ser Gwayne Corbray of the Kingsguard who intercepted Daemon Blackfyre before he could kill Donnel. Donnel would spend the rest of the battle on foot and in the thick of it, catching only occasional glimpses of the incredible duel between Ser Gwayne and Daemon Blackfyre. By the time the battle was over Lord Donnel had sustained substantial wounds, barely managing to walk off the field on his own before collapsing promptly after the end of the battle. He would stubbornly ride back to the Vale on his own, against the wishes of his bannermen and Maester, liable as he was to exacerbate his wounds. Upon his return to the Vale, Donnel would finally receive proper treatment for his wounds, though some seemed already to have begun to worsen. In spite of this Donnel would continue his duties as Lord Paramount unabated, starting with his judgment on House Sunderland. Being a fair and kind man, he allowed the House to retain its lands and titles, at the cost of a hostage. Lord Sunderland's eldest daughter would wed Lord Donnel as his second wife, following the death of his first wife in childbirth. A few years later she would bear him a son, a sickly son whose birth deteriorated his new wife's health significantly, but with the birth of Denys Arryn Donnel finally had a proper heir. At the outset of the Spring Sickness Lord Donnel acted quickly and concisely, he ordered the way into the Vale from the other Kingdoms blocked, and the fleet at Gulltown anchored until further notice. Any who tried to leave were to be tossed in a cell until such a time as the sickness was ended, and travel was safe once more. Although many merchants and smallfolk resented Lord Donnel for this decision it saved the Vale from the fate of the other Kingdoms, ensuring Spring Sickness never ravaged the Vale of Arryn. Now, with the sickness over and the realm recovering, Lord Donnel seeks to strengthen his position amongst the other Lords Paramount and raise his son as a worthy heir. He is unaware of his brothers scheming for his Lordship, or support of the Blackfyre Heirs. With his frame weakening further from his wounds and sickly condition, the Lords of the Vale lose faith every day in Lord Donnel and his heir's ability to lead them.
[sub][ ⚔ ] P O V s[/sub]

NAME
[sub][ ⚔ ]House[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Reputation[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Appearance[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]History[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Family Tree[/sub]

---

NAME
[sub][ ⚔ ]House[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Reputation[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Appearance[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]History[/sub]

---
[sub][ ⚔ ]Family Tree[/sub]

---

Denys Arryn
[sub][ ⚔ ]House[/sub]

Arryn
[sub][ ⚔ ]Reputation[/sub]

- The only son of Lord Donnel Arryn, born 202 AC - Noted as a sickly child with many ills not unlike his father during the man's youth - Heir to the Vale of Arry and the Eyrie - The only child of Lord Donnel and his second wife Cissy Sunderland - Often called a curious and capricious boy, playful in spite of his frailty
[sub][ ⚔ ]Appearance[/sub]

Denys is very young, only about halfway into his ninth year. He is thin but not unhealthily so and is known to sneak around the Eyrie with many assuming he has his own little paths to avoid being seen whilst traversing the castle. Although a mischevious sort he is known to dote on his mother and father regardless of Donnel's thus far failed attempts to harden the young boy. The Lords of the Vale worry that little Denys could drop dead at any time should he inherit the Vale from his aging and ailing father. Whispers that some would prefer his uncle upon the throne in the Vale are spoken just low enough to evade 'Good Lord' Donnel's trusting ears, but the boy has heard them. Whenever upset he is known to brood high within the Eyrie, somewhere that most have extreme difficulty finding.
[sub][ ⚔ ]Family Tree[/sub]

---
