For whatever reason you and Merc reacted explosively and defensively to KoL's warning. Perhaps it was the directed nature of the post that alarmed but to clarify further upon Windel and KoL;

For being a stealthy rogue who [i]can[/i] operate away from others, you are still confronted with risks for choosing to play in such a manner, and KoL is firmly establishing now that the [i]possibility of threat exists[/i] so that if such were to ever occur, it would not be from out of left field but because of a conscious decision to operate based on a riskier play style that brings you satisfaction in playing your character.

The lesson is: Do what makes you happy, but accept there is danger in a lone wolf play style just as their are advantages.
