Name: Ashe Blackwood Age: 18 Gender: Female, perhaps? It depends on the day. Race: Faunus - Mountain Ibex Nationality: Mistrali / Menagerian Weapon: Magician’s Hands A pair of fingerless white gloves, with dust woven into the fabrics, and a single small dust crystal each placed within sockets on the exterior of the proximal phalanges for four per hand, or eight total. One color is present per socket by default, but they are interchangeable. A moderately thick polymer disc is planted upon the back of each glove, containing an accelerometer and five pullstrings connected to bands around the proximal phalanges of each finger, with a sixth pullstring connected to the wristband. Hand positioning and motion determine the output of the gloves. On the accelerometer are a safety switch and a power adjustment dial. The dial goes up to 11. The Magicians’ Hands do not transform. At all. However, they have a number of different functions depending upon hand positioning and motion. A raised wrist triggers a longer ranged attack, with finger positioning determining which element is emitted. A lowered wrist triggers an extremely short-ranged elemental burst as a defensive tool. A straight wrist and fist, meanwhile, produces high intensity and short ranged elemental bursts -- perfect for adding some major kick to Ashe’s fists. The Magicians’ Hands lack the controlled output of more specialized shell-based weapons and emit raw elemental energy, which makes them difficult to effectively wield. Ashe herself isn’t yet as proficient as she needs to be, and strongly prefers utilizing fire and ice outputs due to their reliability and predictability. She isn’t comfortable using lightning outputs due to there being no guarantee that raw electrical energy will hit her intended target. Turning the dial up to 11 completely depletes up to one active dust crystal in one strike, and risks self-injury if not used with care. Turning the dial down to 1 brings the output strength to practice and training levels, and is almost indefinitely useable. Specialty: Ashe is an acrobat first and a stealth expert second. Her heritage permits her to climb slopes well, balance well, and fall as gracefully and safely as… well, a falling mountain goat. She isn’t quite as good at moving upwards as some other faunus, though, which she laments because the fastest way to get away from an attacker is usually to just climb a tree or jump on top of something tall. Where possible, she shifts her appearances to blend in while chasing a mark. She learned the hard way that staying hidden from view is much harder than it sounds, and has determined that it would be much easier to hide in plain sight using her Semblance. Ashe gathers information as a matter of habit, and prefers avoiding head-on conflicts in favor of the simple tactic of disguising herself, calmly walking up to her mark, starting a conversation, and giving them everything she’s got while they’re not paying attention. If a head-on conflict can’t be avoided, she moves to kiting tactics and attempts to wear her target down at medium range while traversing the most treacherous and advantageous terrain possible. In short, she acts as an assassin with a hint of medium range mage. Her long range capabilities are sorely lacking, and she's strongly considering picking up a pistol when she gets the chance to remedy this. Semblance: A Change of Face Ashe’s Semblance permits her to change how others perceive her. It’s entirely illusory, of course, and there are some limits - for instance, the illusion breaks when she attempts to appear as someone more than an inch or two beyond her height range, or change her apparent physical weight. She seems to be able to change what clothing she appears to be wearing, her facial structure, bone structure, sex, and the like on command, and can even appear to be either purely human or a different breed of faunus. The sound of her voice can change at will, and others who come into contact with her feel as though they’re touching the illusion. Even scent can change. That said, it is of limited usefulness for proper spy work, as anybody who recognizes the person whose face she’s stolen will also almost certainly notice that she has the wrong speech patterns and oftentimes the wrong height and weight. She routinely messes up minor details that escape her memory, too, so her disguises are generally a case of “close enough” rather than being spot-on. Her Semblance stays active until either intentionally shifted to a new image, or she loses consciousness. While her Semblance has only indirect offensive and defensive effects and does very little on its own to aid in combat, using Dust would theoretically be able to create a low intensity elemental aura that lashes out at those who come into physical contact with her. It’s a pity she hasn’t yet figured out how to do it reliably. At the moment, her skills are somewhat... Lacking. She can only really take on the face of those she knows very well, or create a completely fictional image. A more complete disguise is harder to imagine herself as, and certain adjusted traits such as scent, voice, etc. may be missing or nonexistent. The potential is there, but without further (and intense) practice, she won't be fooling many security guards any time soon. Upgrades: Grimm Disguise - Medium upgrade - 4 Credits Personality: Ashe is an outgoing introvert. She prefers being either alone or in the company of one or two good friends, but isn’t shy by a long shot. If left to her own devices, she’ll keep a party going entirely on her own for the hour it takes for the extended interaction to start wearing on her nerves. She’s not comfortable around people, though, and doesn’t open up much - if at all - and hides her distrust behind a veil of biting humor and boisterousness. Her distrust leads her to spy on others and keep dossiers, which she conceals by playing the part of a bit of an airhead. Personal questions tend to be answered with complete fabrications - generally a different one depending on which image she’s wearing. Despite the trust issues and habitual lying, she seems to be fairly good-natured and dislikes hurting people. If she weren’t aiming to become a Huntress, she’d likely have gone into acting instead. The only answers she gives consistently are that she’s aiming to become a Huntress in order to change public perceptions of Faunus, and that she finds the methods of the White Fang to be rather distasteful. Her education consists predominantly of personal, private study amongst her friends from Mistral. While they were a gang of hooligans, they spent an inordinate amount of time researching new and unusual ways to have fun, including various dust engineering techniques, fraud methods, basic math and literary skills, etc. So academically speaking, she tends to have a strong degree of knowledge in some areas, but it's obvious that she lacks any formal education whatsoever. Color: Slate - 708090 Emblem: Two theater masks sitting atop crossed wands upon a two-color background diagonally separated into dull grey and royal purple. Appearance: 5’5” (not including horns), 110lbs. Variable. When not using her Semblance, though, she’s a slender girl of average height with dark skin and almost completely average proportions. Shallow and wide cheekbones give her a round and short face, with a narrow nose and large, angular green eyes. Her honey brown hair is in a short, bobbed style, and almost matches her skin tone. Notably, there’s a pair of long, slightly curved and ribbed horns sprouting from the top of her head, which she seems to take even better care of than the rest of her appearance and are regularly waxed and buffed to a dull shine. Fashion-wise, Ashe tends to stick to the same general style outfit when not using her Semblance. It’s always a pair of chinos, black dress shoes, and a deeply colored blouse under a suit vest. And they're almost always purchased used at thrift stores. Classy in style, but clearly financially not the best off. Color choices change by the day, but she seems to prefer purple tops with dark grey vest and pants. During classes, rather than change her entire appearance, she merely changes minor details like horn and eye colors.
