“Just the once,” Cyare clarified, nodding a little. As much as she enjoyed a little recognition, she didn’t want to give Angel the wrong impression. She [i]had[/i] fought a Dark Guild alone, but they hadn’t been anything much to speak of. Scary when they were the only ones with magic, not as much when it was a level playing field. If the rune knights present before them had been having difficulty it was entirely possible that this enemy was a few steps up. Still, she squeezed his hand back and gave a faint smile. “Hard to say yet if they’re anything alike.”

“I wouldn’t count them out just because we have numbers, it’s entirely possible there’s a factor we don’t know.” The mage mulled over Rei’s suggestion a moment, nodding a little to herself. If nothing else Rei could scout the fastest, cover the most ground before the marauders had much chance to act. She doubted their arrival the night before had been unnoticed. “That would be a good idea I think, Rei. Take a look around further out, you and Wes can probably get a sense of what we’re dealing with.”

“Angel and I,” She squeezed his hand lightly. “Can patrol the town a little. Help the locals feel better, maybe get an idea of what they know. My magic isn’t too flashy so it shouldn’t cause distress if I have to use it. Ferrara is the most personable one here, he’ll help put them at ease.”

“We should plan to meet back here before noon at the latest to share information. If an attack comes Rei can find us pretty easily, and there’s a decent chance I can neutralize the enemy’s magic if we get close enough. Either way we can come up with a solid plan of action then.”
