The atmosphere isn't great anywhere for immigrants, refugees, and minorities at the moment though. It'll be hard getting in, and it'll be hard to stay, as the government is really cracking down on the numbers who are allowed in.
I'm a British citizen, thanks to my Father being born in the UK ;) So I don't believe I might have as much of a hard time as non-citizens. I may be wrong, though. As for London, I did visit a couple times when things were better. Everything's really orderly, I loved it. Especially how the buses are always on time. How the heck do they manage to time everything so well??
The above advice is just from second/third-hand accounts, though. The only absolutely solid do-not-ignore advice I can give you is have your passport and identification! Not being able to prove your identity and country of origin is what puts most people in immigration limbo, at least when coming to my country.
As it stands, you can't even leave Venezuela without a passport, ID and about 2000 dollars for the ticket out :p I don't mind working. In fact I actually love working, as long as it provides enough for me to live, which is something I can't say about my current situation. One needs about 5 full time jobs in order to live somewhat comfortably.
