Maxim was more of a defensive (pillbox from the tunnels) weapon, the DPM was a support weapon for ambushes and assaults.

And the 25 pound DPM is [i]plenty heavy[/i] for people who at the tme had an average wieght of 90 pounds and stood about five foot four.

The average maxim mount wieghed as much as two otherwise fully equiped NVA soldiers.
