The Indispensable Blue Beetle

Episode 5
Today was the day. After a thirty stiches, an arm cast, a cat scan and some agonizing days in the hospital Ted was a free man and his first point of interest was metropolis tower, home of the Justice League. BB hoped that someone had heard about his situation and informed the rest of the team of his time in the hospital. Man the team! The roster was something alone to marvel at with the classics like Green Lantern and B-man and the rookies like The Lizard and that one kid who didn't have a costume. "What was that kid's name again?" Ted questioned aloud as he entered the Justice League HQ. and headed for the elevator. "The Rook? The Rock? No, it was... the... Right! The Hookie because he's skipping school or something" Ted exclaimed in the empty elevator as he justified the obviously wrong name he gave to the the rookie hero. Despite this moment of stupidity, BB had actually been reading up on all the members of the League, both new and old, so he could get a grasp for what he was in for. So far he was most excited to be working with his old 'partner' The Question though it had been a while since he'd last seen Q and his mental state had the uncanny ability to spiral out of control. That being said Q and him always seemed to generally agree on topics that weren't just absurd statements like the Rwandan government infecting half the planet with tracer bacteria in preparation for an alien invasion. Finally the elevator dinged and Ted stepped out in order to greet his new team members. Rather than being met with a warm welcome, Ted was met with a flush of horrible energy that made his bones and joints ache. He looked down at himself as he stumbled out of the elevator to see he'd gained quite a bit of weight in his gut and his skin was more than a little wrinkly. He looked up to see that most of the people in the room were changed in some way wether they be turned into some monstrous form or just flat out old. "Some first day... this is..." Ted said in a raspy and exhausted voice and he fumbled to get his gun out. He guessed he had about one shot with the air blast before being knocked on his arse but there wasn't any recoil on the flash. Making a split second decision Ted hobbled his way over and directed the flash straight in the anime girl's eyes, hoping to stun her long enough for one of the unaffected heroes to get at her or at least evacuate some of them. "Wait... is that... Amira?" Ted questioned as he looked at the anime girl more closely, through strained eyes.
