That's fine. I was just throwing together a sorta story thing, but had no real idea about the world this is all set in. I was trying to have a reason for him to have the training (which in medieval era's normally only higher class or nobility had formal training and education). And a reason for him to become a beggar, the families cash crop destroyed along with his family so his wealth couldn't have been reclaimed. 

Can I at least have a normal spear? Or are the weapons given to use at first and we have to earn the better ones? 

Just in case you think the spear I was describing was magical, it wasn't. But I'm happy with a normal longspear, because spears are my favorite medieval weapon. 

And is it okay for my character's father to have been a knight? Or should I make him just a older guard or something? I can have it as that Samson's father was killed defending the city, and it left me orphaned and the house was claimed by our rival house which set me on the streets or something?
