As she grew up Cass or Cassie as her family called her was a fun-loving girl who liked to explore outside and dream about normal girl things such as being a princess or one day meeting a boy and living happily ever after. Well, that crashed and burned all around her when she learned of her gifts. Actually the reveal wasn't entirely the catalyst that turned her personality around, but it started the aforementioned firestorm by causing her to be shy around anyone not a part of her family. One would think that having such a shyness you wouldn't force an issue of attending a 'normal' school but her brother managed to break her defenses as he has always been able to do and she relented into trying High school with him, and what a jungle that was. He seemed to do quite well but Cassie was shunned and ignored or made fun of due to her lack of a social life and jealously from the popular girls who saw her beauty and innocence as threats to their thrones. She attracted the attention of less than savory men as well... 

Regardless, after her first year the nice and fairy-tale dreaming girl had transformed into a pain filled and angry teenager. She became bitter and hateful of everyone but herself, including her twin. With some professional tempering by her middle namesake Cassandra became a literal force of nature, her eyes a near constant swirling storm of blue and gray, almost ice like. She also hardened herself and while she forgave her brother she retains to even now a distaste and cold indifference to the world that didn't affect her. A few people died somewhere else? Oh, that's to bad. A one school friend got cancer? Better them than her. Her one outlet for her anger and venom at the world was martial arts and honing her abilities.

[b][color=#AC58FA]Life Before Red Lake[/color][/b] To tell you Cassie's story is to tell you Leonardo's story as well since you see the two are twins and in addition to being twins they are twin Witches which only makes this story even more interesting. The two were born in Boston on a wet and stormy Halloween night, at 2:45am Leo came into the world seeming calm and caused a warm glow to go through the room as he smiled even with his eyes squeezed shut. But at 3 Cassie ruined that with her own entrance, screaming and even making the lights dim, though we all know that was lighting... Right? Regardless the two babies identical and yet so different even in their first moments were brought up in a loving large family, one of the wealthiest in the Wellesley Greater Boston area called the Everwood family. This family while appearing to be your normal, average family was in fact a coven for Witches led by the Everwood Matriarch, a woman by the name of Lucretzia De Lucini.

But none of that mattered for little Leo or Cassandra who was happily blissful of their differences in other children. They were raised happy and carefree by their parents in a coastal town away from all the politics and their days were full of swimming, cuddling, and learning. After they were at the coastal house for about 4 years something happened to ruin the ideal life, the arrival of baby Nicolo. Taken back to the large Everwood mansion the two twins were now subjected to 'required' teaching from private tutors learning martial arts (which Leo failed at), and many European languages in addition to standard math, and history. 

It was until they twins were 12 that things took a big turn. That was when they discovered they had powers, and what an uproar that was. Magic being passed down by blood was rare, but having it manifest in twins was even more rare and the two children were instantly the love of all the family. For Leo personally it was a kick in the gut as he had just convinced his parents to allow him to attend a private school, but with this revelation that was thrown out the window as his day was spent with even more lessons with tutors with his sister.

Finally when the twins turned fifteen they were allowed out into the real world, and Leo flourished in it while his sister struggled. Leo was the most popular kid in school after a year, playing all the sports, making excellent grades, and going out with all the girls. For Cassandra it was a personal hell as her quiet nature and shyness made her a prime target for bullying. Luckily or unluckily for her Leo found out and was almost expelled from the school after beating a kid into a coma after an incident in the girls bathroom. Cass never went back to school but did support her brother as best as possible after getting over being upset with him.

The incident is hardly every talked about but to make a long story short a boy thinking that he would make this shy little nobody his new girlfriend forced himself upon her and proceeded to sexually assault her until Leo, sensing her in danger rushed in and proceeded to beat the boy into a coma. This incident is a -heavily- guarded secret and even the briefest mention is enough to cause Cassie to lash out in some way.

After that incident Leo became known as a superman of sorts in the high school and it became a rather nice place with the bullying happening off campus and away from a potential defender. But even that was less than normal, and thus Leo found something akin to happiness by being loved by everyone yet never having any true friends. He graduated top of his class and then disappeared back in Everwood manor tutoring his younger brother Nic and the other children or learning more and more about his powers that had continued to manifest while he matured.

For Cassandra, the last years of what would have been her high school was spent locked in her room where she got more and more withdrawn. Independent and ferocious she had decided that no one would ever even try to take advantage of her again or try and hurt her. Her powers grew as well and drew the caution of the Matriarch who began tempering her. A year after Leo's graduation Lucretzia set Leo's family to Red Lake to keep an eye on the area after some sort of premonition. What that meant no one knew but the bags were packed the next day and the family of 5 were on their way, moving into a modest home and settling down.
