Back home in the church, a dusted palanquin was a very popular method of transportation for those too lazy to fly, or just looking to make a good entrance. There was no reason to use a palanquin over, say, a nice comfy pillow with some pixie dust sprinkled over it, but there's just something ever so dramatic about a palanquin. So naturally, Elyris' parents insisted that she ride one to her first day of school. And to bring extra pixie dust just in case. And to bring extra robes. And extra holy symbols. And extra snacks for the trip. And honestly, it felt to Elyris like she was towing the entire treasury of the church across the sky for the entire trip to the Academy. “Sigh. Parents can be so dramatic sometimes.” Luckily, and with a bit of invisibility charms, she didn't attract too much attention as she landed in the back of the crowd, just before the Headmaster's speech began. She quickly hid the pixie-sized palanquin and luggage, replacing the image with a much less impressive illusion of her, carrying a standard-sized school bag with a great deal of difficulty. “Whew. I wouldn't want to be late on my first day...” For a while, she listened raptly, but then someone tried to put a note in her bag. And the weird part is, it worked. Elyris double checked the illusion spell, just be sure the fake bag that fake Elyris carried was still as real-looking as ever. It was. But the note was tucked inside her real school bag. Not even any of the extra luggage, but her personal, hand-crafted, leaf-backpack. The teachers clearly had not been fooled for a second. “Welp. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It's a school of mages, after all. Still, I need to watch my step with the staff around here...” Soon enough, the speech was over and Elyris decided to follow the note's instructions, while constantly looking over her shoulder to try to figure out who might have given it to her. Invisibly pushing her unseen real luggage through the air a good 9 feet overhead, the fake Elyris toted her unfortunately large illusory bag through the Academy grounds towards her room, acting how school children in books are supposed to act. Elyris had never actually seen a human school in person, but the books had to get the descriptions from somewhere, right? “Maybe my roommates will help me fine-tune my illusion's act. Hmmm... I wonder who my roommates are? I do hope they're nice. And gullible. Hehehehehe ” Slowly and carefully, Elyris pushes the door to her new room open, while having her illusory duplicate mime doing the same action. It didn't look like anyone had come in recently through this door, but you could never be too careful-OH! There was someone here! Someone...see-through? Was he an illusion too? She decided to play it safe for now, and stayed invisibly hovering near the ceiling while her illusory duplicate addressed the stranger. “H-hello there!” The duplicate waves, as so does the real Elyris, just in case this stranger can somehow see her. “I'm Elyris, and probably your new roommate? What's your name?” [@FrozenEcstasy]
