One thing that could be noted would be that all of them who had a Mega Evolution had the Mega Stone. Smaug had Charizardnite Y. Liam introduced all of his Pokémon to his od friend and his Pokémon. Goodra, being the freindly creature that he is, hugged Chuck, leaving a thin layer of slime behind on him.
