The Jedi Order has fallen, and the few remaining Jedi scattered across the galaxy have fled into self imposed exile, ever hunted by the relentless Sith Triumvirate. The sudden disappearance of the Jedi from the galactic stage has allowed the criminal syndicates to prosper, no longer restrained by the fear of the Jedi Order, and the Exchange has quickly grown to become the largest criminal operation. With footholds on Taris, Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine to name but a few, the Exchange is responsible for all conceivable forms of profitable crime. Slave trading, weapons trafficking, bounty hunting, smuggling, extortion and more. The Sith Triumvirate, an uneasy alliance between the last three known sith lords, has resorted to a brutally effective shadow campaign against the republic. No longer being capable of waging open warfare against the galactic republic, the sith lords Traya, Nihilus and Sion instead conduct themselves in the shadows, orchestrating conflicts to cripple the republic from within. All the while, vicious Sith Assassins spread throughout the stars in the search for the last remaining Jedi, seeking to destroy the order once and for all. You are not a Jedi or a Sith, however. Caught in the middle of their schemes and wars, you simply try to survive the unforgiving galaxy as best you can. It was this struggle for survival that led you to the Smuggler's Moon, Nar Shaddaa. The moon is currently in the midst of a violent struggle for territory and influence between the Hutt Cartel and the Exchange. Whether you arrived seeking work, or were a part of the arriving refugees, your fate on the moon quickly took a turn for the worse after your arrival. To ensure a near limitless supply of fresh recruits, the Enclave has recently seized the refugee sector on the moon, home to millions of displaced refugees without a home, and without hope. Whatever your purpose for being in the refugee sector, you found yourself trapped after the Exchange brutally seized control, tearing apart families and forcefully 'volunteering' refugees for service when manpower is needed. Now, caught in the midst of another struggle, you must put your skills to use once again. For while you are by no means a hero, you are a survivor.
Hey folks! In this roleplay we will explore the often unseen criminal underbelly across multiple planets, and while our story begins on Nar Shaddaa, it will not end there. Expect to visit well-known planets and locations from the movies, and some lesser known systems too as our characters make their way through an harsh galaxy. We'll explore the consequences of the war between the Jedi and the Sith, a subject rarely touched upon in the films. Maybe your character supports one order, or perhaps views them both as being as bad as each other. Either way, their constant wars have left the galaxy reeling and allowed for violence and lawlessness to prosper. It is because of their wars that our characters find themselves in the situation they are currently in. Character development, and the relationships our characters have with one another, will be central to this roleplay. Choice will be a major feature of this roleplay, and there will be a large deal of freedom and flexibility in the story. While I do have general plot-lines planned, these will serve more as inspiration for the journey our characters embark on, and no fate is pre-determined. Whatever the choices our characters make, the initial story-line on Nar Shaddaa will mark only the beginning of their journey. Across the galaxy, you can expect encounters with the Hutt Cartels, Exchange, the Galactic Republic, Sith Assassins, corrupt politicians, innocent victims and perhaps even a Jedi. Though I do emphasise, this story is not about the heroic deeds of the exemplary Jedi, but it is instead about a group of morally ambiguous characters trying their best to do right by themselves, and survive. Remeber, though, actions do have consequences and characters can die, so please keep that in mind! Below you will find the introductory details of the first story-line, or act, that our band of scoundrels will follow. Please do read it before creating your character, as it contains some information that will be important for their recent histories!

The Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War have left the galaxy scarred. Entire planets such as Duros and Serroco were laid to near-waste, the surface of the planets ravaged by conflict. In the aftermath of these two deadly conflicts, hundreds of thousands - if not millions - were left homeless and without the means to aid in the reconstruction efforts on their home planets. These unfortunate souls became refugees, fleeing to other regions of the galaxy in the hopes of a fresh start. Many of these refugees headed to Nar Shaddaa, which had set up a designated sector for the arrival and housing of those fleeing warfare and the rubble of their old homes. They would find no hope in Nar Shaddaa, however. The moon was unable to cope with the mass influx of refugees, and the criminal organisation known as the Exchange soon pounced on the disorganised and weak refugee sector. Bringing it forcefully under their control, they now prevent anybody from leaving the sector unless it is to work for the Exchange. Conditions, already poor, have worsened. Exchange thugs regularly steal the few possessions the refugees brought with them, and encourage them to turn on one another for what little rations and shelter there is to go around. The veteran soldiers of the past conflicts regularly turn to crime, often becoming the next generation of Exchange footsoldiers to keep control of their territory and fight against the rival Hutt Cartel. It is in the appalling conditions of this sector that you have found yourself trapped. Fate, however, would not have you stay idly confined to the sector. Recently, you were approached by a Zabrak by the name of Mol. Working for the Exchange, and being the undercover deputy to the Exchange Overseer of the Refugee Sector, a Quarren by the name of Saquesh, he informed you that the Exchange was in fact looking to recruit you for a very specific job. Mol assured you freedom to leave the sector, and Nar Shaddaa, should you be successful. Rumour of a ‘young guardian’ hiding among the refugees has quietly spread throughout the sector. Hushed talk of this guardian helping those in the most dire need, and working to stop the abuse at the hands of the Exchange thugs has given slithers of hope and comfort to the refugees. This slight hope is a threat, Mol says, to the operations of the Exchange in the sector. With hope, the refugees are more willing to defy their authority. With the increased demands for manpower, for the ongoing skirmishes against the Hutt Cartel, this cannot be tolerated by the Exchange. Tasked with rooting out and finding this mysterious protector of the downtrodden by any means necessary, and the promise of freedom should you be successful in this task, you were partnered with a few others in the sector, who like you do not belong there. Whether happy or not to be working with such an organisation, you were handed an opportunity, and you took it.
L O G
Saquesh - Overseer of the Refugee Sector on Nar Shaddaa for the Exchange. The Exchange has semi-autonomous cells on planets throughout the galaxy, though their grip is most firm on the Outer Rim Territories. Nar'Shadda, Telos IV, Tatooine and Taris are but a few of the planets and moons they hold influence on. The syndicate operates with the utmost secrecy, and a single crime lord is responsible for overseeing the local operations of the Exchange at each cell. Nobody knows the true identity of the Compeer, passing his communications down to secretive sector chiefs, who themselves keep their true identities hidden, and then communicate these orders to the individual crime lords on the Compeer's behalf. The Exchange itself is involved in all sorts of profitable crime. An underground slave trade, spice refinement and trade, weapons trafficking, extortion and smuggling are but a few of their operations. Most recently, the Exchange has taken advantage of the refugee crisis on Nar'Shadda in the aftermath of the Mandalorian Wars and the subsequent Jedi Civil War against Revan, which has displaced millions across the galaxy. This has allowed the Exchange to recruit from the pool of now aimless war veterans and extort whatever they can from the wretched refugees. Their increased operations on Nar'Shadda as a result of this has led to growing tensions with the Hutt Cartel, their biggest rival, and skirmishes between the two crime outfits are now commonplace across the Smuggler's Moon. There is a growing fear that another war, this time between two criminal organisations, will soon break out across the galaxy and wreak havoc once more. Since the disappearance of the Jedi Order, the Exchange has posted enormous bounties for the capture of live Jedi. It is commonly said by both bounty hunters and common folk alike that the reward for a single Jedi would be enough to purchase an entire planet. This has, unsurprisingly, led to the hunting of Jedi by the galaxy's deadliest bounty hunters, some even banding together with the promise of a reward so great.

The largest rivals to the Exchange, the Hutt Cartel jousts for control over the same territories as the Exchange. Based out of Nal Hutta, the Hutt Cartel undoubtedly covers more territory than the Exchange itself, but has surprisingly found itself under serious threat from the rival outfit. Involved in similar trades, there is little that separates the Hutt Cartel and the Exchange in terms of how they operate, though some would argue the Hutt Cartel is perhaps, though not by much, more 'moderate' than their rivals. Most professional bounty hunters and smugglers seek employment with the Hutt Cartel over the Exchange, and the Hutt Cartel has something of a more 'legitimate' image, despite being equally criminal. The Hutt Cartel also maintains a standing military force that is trained surprisingly well, alongside their own starfleet to defend their territory. This has not stopped the growing influence of the Exchange however, which has made use of veteran soldiers and unprincipled thugs to brutally spread their control and take territory from the Hutt Cartel. Open war between the two rival organisations, it seems, draws near.

Entering a period of healing and restoration, the Galactic Republic now reigns as the supreme power across the galaxy with the defeat of the Sith Empire. Despite this, however, it's influence across the galaxy wanes. With the rise of powerful criminal syndicates and millions of displaced refugees, the Republic has found itself entirely unprepared to deal with either crisis. Not wanting to enter yet another conflict, the Republic has by-and-large left the Exchange and Hutt Cartel to their own devices, though unfortunately also condemning thousands to suffer under the rule of these criminal organisations as a result of this. Instead, the Republic is concentrating its efforts on rebuilding and healing the damage done to the planets and cities by the wars. Newly implemented projects such as the Telos Restoration Project, under the new Supreme Chancellor Tol Cressa, are the main focus of the Galactic Republic. The Jedi Order is estimated to have fewer than one-hundred Jedi remaining across the entire galaxy, and has removed itself from the politics of the Galactic Republic entirely. Instead, the Jedi have fled into self-imposed exile in an attempt to discover the shadowy sith threat that remains present in the galaxy.

With the defeat of the Sith Empire at the end of the recent Jedi Civil War against Darth Revan, the three Sith Lords Sion, Nihilus and Traya, formed an uneasy alliance in the shadows. Secretly orchestrating conflicts and influencing events across the galaxy from the dark, the trio work tirelessly to bring down the Galactic Republic from within. Their main goal, however, is to eradicate the Jedi Order once and for all. To this end, the dark triumvirate trains ruthless hunters, Sith Assassins, from the hidden Trayus Academy. These Sith Assassins tirelessly search the galaxy for the hidden Jedi, with one singular mission. To exterminate all remaining Jedi, and defeat the Jedi Order once and for all. Currently, the existence of the Sith Triumvirate and their order of Sith Assassins is unknown. The Jedi, seeking to discover the threat they know to exist somewhere in the galaxy, have exiled themselves in the hope that the unknown threat will eventually reveal itself to them.

R U L E S

Typical rules of the guild apply. This roleplay may feature some mature content, so please behave appropriately.
Keep things civil in the OOC. We can work conflicts out through PMs or over discord should they arise. The group discord is available at that link.
I'm aiming for this to be a relaxed, low-stress endeavor. I am not going to bring in a rule enforcing a minimum set of posts per week, but ask only that you remain reasonably active and committed to taking the roleplay forward.
This roleplay is a high casual-advanced standard, though I am not going to impose any minimum lengths for posts. I only ask that you do your best to bring the world around your character to life through your posts as we create this story together. Remember, this roleplay is about the development of our characters. How will their experiences change them? Use your common sense and experience for writing at these standards, and we'll have no problems!
Allow for other writers to post after your own to allow for interaction between the group. Collaboration through titan-pad, gdocs, discord, or whatever method your prefer, is strongly encouraged and will be a necessity of this roleplay.
Characters in this roleplay can die. Our characters will be skilled, yes, but going up against twenty armed thugs alone, for example, isn't likely to end well. We aren't Jedi! That said, characters will not be killed without discussion with the writer, and they will not be written out without solid reason.
When it comes to the size of the group, I'm looking for about 5-6 players at most. I feel a small group would work better for this type of roleplay, so the applications will not be on a first come first serve basis.
Lastly!
