His scraggly, raven-colored mane and beard make up most of his average-looking features. His scarred left eye and prominent cheekbones are his most distinct attributes. His body is littered with marks from beasts, enemies, and old flames, tattooing an otherwise well-conditioned physique. Ivas is not as serious or intimidating as his battle-scarred features might suggest. He often carries himself as a playful dolt and quick to sarcasm with unabashed humor. Equipment: Weapons: - Long sword, Short sword, Daggers x 2. The steel used to smith Ivas' blades were melted down from the armor of a battle priest named, Nazhari Yult. Also wears a rusty helmet. Serves more as an ornament than actual protection. Miscellaneous: - Standard Swordseeker utility kit that comes with medicinal herbs, powders and other ingredients used for treating wounds or crafting small explosives, knockout gasses, and poisons. - Tome of Nazhari Yult. A parting gift from an old friend. It is full of self-taught divinations used to combat the paranormal. The book itself is enchanted in many ways, serving as a conduit to amplify the incantations within. Ivas has yet to use a fraction of its contents and doubts he'll need anything beyond that. Story: Ivas Vygnuur was born on the western countryside of King Deign's realm. Tocratian rule oversees many monarchs and houses clinging onto whichever slice of the pie Emperor Gabritius allows them. Deign is one of the few major rulers of the land with some significance left in his name. At the time of Tocratia's invasion the Deign armies were a force to be reckoned with, holding the invaders at bay for months before a truce was signed. Though the takeover was inevitable, Emperor Gabritius respected their fortitude and appointed Deign as his primary war banner - the highest title a non-Tocratian force can receive. Ivas had dreams of becoming a Knight of Deign, serving the Emperor and honoring his King. Fate would grant him a different path. His story of misfortune would take one bad turn after another, eventually putting Ivas at the mercy of Tocratia's court system. Were it not for Battle Priest Nazhari Yult's pardon, Ivas would've been sustenance for the carrion. Nazhari Yult was Tocratian, and what he saw in Ivas nobody knew. Yult took the troubled youth under his wing without a forethought, becoming a father figure of sorts. Due to his criminal history, Ivas was unable to enlist in neither Tocratia or Deign's infantry. He wanted to be a Battle Priest like Nazhari, but the cadre of mages wouldn't allow a Roviat in their ranks. Going against the rules, Nazhari trained Ivas both in combat and the arcane arts. Ivas absorbed what he could, sponging in the details of a paranormal world he never knew existed. When Yult felt that his apprentice was ready, he enlisted Ivas into the Grandshield. Ivas proved himself a worthy Swordseeker overtime. While the ranks were loitered with corruption, Ivas maintained an honest approach to his work -- for the most part. The rules of the realm were always shifting, changing, and they almost always accommodated the ones that were well off. It would not be out of character for him to give special treatment to the disenfranchised, especially at the expense of some pompous dullard. The passing of Nazhari Yult came unexpected. Ivas never saw the body, but by doctrine of rights was given his armor. Unfortunately, the piece itself would prove to be too cumbersome as a hunter. Ivas decided to take it apart and melt it down to smith for weapons, save the helmet. In doing so he found a small compartment within the inner plating. It contained a small book, Nazhari's journal full of divinations with a message that read: "To the little dagger now forged by virtue, Never dull against the weight of the living. Stay tempered for the otherworlds to come." -Nazhari Yult Curiosity more than sadness filled Ivas' heart. The tight-lipped advisory board of the Battle Priests only strengthened suspicions. Just as he was about to further investigate Nazhari's death, the Grandshield assigned him to a new mission. Not only would its success grant the rank of Chimera, but the location was within Emulis, the most isolated kingdom of Roviat. He obliged, reluctant to delay his investigation, but decided to appoint a friend to continue on in his absence. Becoming a Chimera Rank meant more authority, one Ivas hopes to use when he returns to find out more about Nazhari.
