If I might ask, why would such a character defect so early on? The US just fell and the Warsaw Pact is still consolidating gains. I'm okay with the idea of a politician, but I think that to avoid having him executed, there would need to be a good IC reason for them to trust your character's loyalty.

Just pointing this out, but I'm fine with seeing what you come up with.
