Previous Story Arcs

Cedric D. Boone sets out on his own after a few successful stints playing second fiddle to other pirate vessels. He sets sail in a smaller ship manageable for one man. Meanwhile, Bonesword is found by Lilliana Merrycure. Put off by the nurturing woman at first, Bonesword grows fond of her and they travel together. The duo come across Boone, looking for a crew of his own to set sail with. Something about the two just feels right, and Bonesword's skill with a blade and previous sailing experience earns him the title of Boone's first mate. Realizing they need a larger, more seaworthy ship, Boone and company find port in order to look for a proper pirate vessel. While searching for the perfect ship, they come across the half-fishman shipwright Isuza. Isuza, looking for an excuse to get out to sea and finding them to be kind people, provides the newest ship she's built with one condition: she comes along. Now with a proper ship, the newly named Red Rum Pirates set sail on the Rum Runner. After setting sail, the Red Rums discover in the worst possible way that they have a stowaway. The marines attack, both to find a runaway slave and because the Rum Runner raised the Jolly Roger, an illegal offense in and of itself. Once the marines are fought off, Boone finds the stowaway, one Dirk Messir. After some coaxing, Boone learns Dirk's story. Enraged at the treatment the Yuushuu nobles give their "employees," he orders they set sail for Yuushuu Island. Once docked, Cedric makes use of Dirk's knowledge of the island's structure to incite rebellion and destroy the infrastructure. The crew takes out a number of Yuushuu guards and even family members, before leaving the island in the ownership of the former slaves. This very public event earns the crew their very first bounties. Needing to lie low for awhile, the crew docks the Rum Runner out of sight and out of mind. In the dead of night, known serial arsonist Slick Drake comes across the ship, sees the image of alcohol bottles on the back, and assumes it's carrying booze. Eager to create another work of "art," Slick attempts to set the ship ablaze, but his attempt is foiled by Boone. The captain knocks Slick overboard, unaware Slick ate a devil fruit and therefore is incapable of swimming. Out of compassion, Isuza dives in to save Slick's life. Out of gratitude, he stays aboard as ship cook. After a stint of laying low, the Red Rums were in need of supplies, so they docked on an island with a small population, which usually was used for fitness trials. As it so happened, they weren't the only pirates to come to port. A group known as the Slug Throwers had recently taken to wreaking havoc and plundering the local populace, and only one woman dared to stand up to them. Unfortunately, try as hard as she might, Feya Nelson alone couldn't fend off the entire attack force of the Slug Throwers. Unable to watch the efforts of someone so driven go to waste, and ever the good man, Boone ordered his crew to step in. At first Feya rejected, claiming it was her fight and she couldn't accept help from wanted men, but the Red Rums ignored her and sent the Slug Throwers packing. Feya was surprised to find that they had no intentions of taking over, or demanding the island's treasures and wealth as extortion. They requested only what was needed to get by (and Slick's requests to burn the town, which went ignored and for which he was chastised). Recognizing something special, Feya Nelson joined up as ship doctor and fitness instructor. Another week out to sea, and the Red Rums spied a curious sight near the coast of Karate Island. Someone was getting attacked by a shark! Acting fast, the pirates closed the distance and made short work of the shark, saving a young man's life! Only as they found out, Caesar Inu was no ordinary young man. After all, normal people didn't have dog features or generate electricity from nowhere. He was grateful for being saved (in all reality he attacked the shark, not the other way around, and was winning) and decided that correcting them, or leaving, was too much effort. Thus Caesar Inu joined the Red Rums last, a scant three days before they would find their way to Reverse Mountain...
