[@SaikaAnge] I posted what I could think of for the scene, I got a block towards the end though so I hope I gave you enough to work with. 

Kal's handler is immune to her orders, but she could still talk to him telepathically if she tried. The reason he's immune to her power is because it plays off of any loyalty the target has, for anything. Dr. Charon is loyal only to himself and his pursuit of knowledge. He's probably only a part of this group of scientists because he wouldn't have the means to do all his experiments and studies alone.
