Erza was about to set foot on route 03 - or at least try to make his way there when a gentleman interrupted the boy. He offered him valorous advice, which Erza was certain to ignore. The Machop was far too interesting though, so he quickly brought his pokédex up and rudely pointed it at the pokémon. He registered some information, thanked the elderly man and set foot on Route 03.

Now, rain wasn't a bad thing for Erza, but it was for the Growlithe. He immediately realized there were some grass-type pokémon here and... he could potentially train the Growlithe - but not only did the Growlithe had no Fire Type moves so far, but they were weakened in the rain.
