The average male height in western Europe at the outset of World War I was around 5'6". That was in 1914 - almost two and a half decades after our current setting. Many people, sans the nobles of course, will be even shorter due to less nutrition. 

As such, Lucie and Aleksandra being as tall as they are is significant. Aleksandra's height in particular would've been very tall for a man of the times.
