Abel felt like he had been running for hours now, even though it had only been about half that time at the most. Running even more, he was finding harder and harder to dodge the walking corpses, and he was starting to get tired. Eventually his legs couldn't take it anymore and he stopped suddenly panting and coughing. The zombies instantly started making their way over to him. He was trapped, now doomed to be eaten because he was to headstrong to pace himself. Images of his older sister working and struggling to provide for the two filled his head. The look of pure misery whenever the taxes came in, or the tired one she work late, after working a night shift. These were the reason's he was in the godforsaken mall in the first place. The weight of the guilt won out over his feeling to resign, and he gripped the bat again. There were a few closing in on him, and he wasn't sure he was going to make it out despite his renewed sense of survival, but he sure as hell was going to take as many of them out as possible. When the shutters started going down, he decided that was sign not go and die/ He was a short distance away from one of store and if he could make before the thing closed he might have a shot. The guy on the PA system seemed to have the dead's attention for a little bit, and provided a pretty decent head start. Mustering all of his energy he pulled himself to his feet, and went as fast as he could to the store, the zombies who were about to eat him, quickly followed. He tossed the bat under the shutter gate as it was almost fully closed. He muttered a silent prayer, and slide just barely passing under the gate in time. The zombies outside banged on the gate. Laughing his head off Abel, dragged himself over to the phone behind the counter. He was going to owe this guy over the PA a drink after this "Andy, I think you might of just saved my life."
